Mexico City 2025

Today's adventure begins here in Mexico
0:02
City as the recording of this Monday,
0:04
May 12th,
0:07
2025. I've been here a while and I
0:11
believe today I am finally going to go
0:13
up to the top of this little skyscraper
0:15
right here, the Latino Americana
0:17
building, and quite a few other things.
0:20
But that's on the agenda as I stroll
0:23
around. Also, piping high caffeinated
0:26
beverage achieved. Welcome everyone.
0:29
Adam the Woo here. I'm inviting you to
0:32
join me. Shall
0:35
you? This is kind of neat when you walk
0:37
in here. They have different towers
0:39
around around the world. There's the
0:42
Space Needle right there. I've been up
0:43
in that one. Empire State Building in
0:44
New York. Seen that. Haven't been up in
0:47
the Eiffel Tower. Have been up in the CN
0:50
Tower in
0:51
Toronto. One day. One day. Eiffel Tower.
0:55
Got got a lot of countries still to go,
0:56
but one day. Another ticket to the top.
0:59
437. 220 pesos is the cost. And I said,
1:04
"Do I need to pay for extra for
1:05
filming?" They go, "No, no filming.
1:06
Filming is included." Reach the top. A
1:08
little merchandise here when you get off
1:10
the
1:11
elevator. Eat a little UFO there on top
1:13
of a little peak as well. Yeah, I am up
1:17
here. Going to get a pretty good view of
1:19
all of Mexico City. This little card
1:21
that I can show some specifications on
1:24
the how tall up I am or how high up I
1:26
am. There's this blue cow up here. Not
1:30
really a whole lot of people up here,
1:33
honestly. There's a couple of the
1:34
workers, but I might be the only might
1:36
be the only guest at the
1:37
moment. Getting a nice little view
1:41
here. I wouldn't say it's a completely
1:43
clear day, but it is a little more clear
1:45
than it has been. Oh, there's the Palace
1:47
of Fine Arts. It's not called that, but
1:49
that's basically what it is. It's like
1:51
art art gallery down there. I passed by
1:53
there the other day.
1:56
just peruse around here. I kind of want
1:57
to take a dip over into the Chinatown
2:01
area which is located down that way. I
2:04
haven't been in there yet. I walked by
2:05
it the other
2:07
day. So, just for frame of reference,
2:09
yesterday I was at the Beethoven
2:12
sculpture, which is right down there.
2:14
Right in the middle of the screen is the
2:15
Beethoven sculpture. This kind of has a
2:18
Central Park vibe to it, but there's a
2:20
there's a lot bigger park here uh here
2:22
in Mexico City that's massive, like
2:25
bigger than Central Park. And I was
2:26
there the other day. That's where that
2:27
big castle is that was using Romeo and
2:29
Juliet.
2:30
And used to be where the president used
2:33
to
2:40
live. Also claw machine up here.
2:40
44s. It's the distance. So, it's
2:42
definitely not the tallest tower I've
2:43
ever been in, but man, you still you get
2:46
a much better view up here than you do
2:47
when I look the ground looking up at it.
2:49
I thought I don't know how how good of a
2:51
view that's going to be, but really it
2:52
is a spectacular view all the way around
2:54
360. You can walk all around this thing
2:57
and see Mexico City. Mexico City is
3:01
massive.
3:03
Massive. If you look over there, that's
3:06
where my hotel is near the Zokula, which
3:08
is that big courtyard area and
3:10
cathedral. Lindo back over there later
3:13
on this evening, but see it through here
3:15
through the the glare of the
3:18
window. Stand correct that it's not
3:20
completely 360. There is a little bit of
3:22
a a barricade here. Here's a layout of
3:26
the land for the entire country of
3:28
Mexico right over here. Kind of get
3:38
the there's a mic right down there. all
3:38
the Aztec ruins, IC
3:46
ruins. I mean, Mexico is
3:46
massive. So, the only other time I've
3:48
been here, which I don't even consider
3:49
me going to Mexico, was crossing the
3:51
border over San Diego, which is up
3:53
there, and into Tijana for one day. So,
3:56
I never really applied that as be going
3:58
on an international trip to Mexico. This
4:00
one I'm much longer and much more into
4:03
the the midsection of Mexico than, you
4:06
know, just a tourist strip. in
4:08
in Tijana.
4:09
So, one day I'd like to do these ruins
4:14
here and then also Cancun. A lot of
4:17
people will do cruises and they'll go
4:18
over to Cancun and some of the other
4:20
some of the other areas,
4:22
but I'll save that for for later times.
4:26
Just wanted to do the central Mexico
4:28
City areas this trip. There's another
4:30
really big tower with some sort of
4:33
antennas or something on it right there
4:34
in the middle right there. That's a
4:35
That's a pretty good size tower as well.
4:37
It's a little hazy and foggy. There is a
4:39
lot of smog here just like LA because
4:41
it's so the population of the car
4:43
exhaust and things. Very very smoggy
4:46
similar to LA. In fact, I think Mexico
4:48
City is is bigger than LA. There's one
4:50
of those lizardesque river creatures I
4:53
saw yesterday in the aquarium when I
4:56
went out to the island of the dolls.
4:58
It's like a that mascot they use a lot.
5:00
It's like climbing up the side of the
5:01
tower like almost like King Kong. I was
5:03
way off even thinking that Mexico City
5:06
was anywhere near in comparison to the
5:09
size of LA. I mean, it is multiple times
5:13
bigger. It's not even close. It is not
5:15
even close to the size of Mexico City in
5:30
contest. And LA is big. between six and
5:30
seven times larger than
5:34
LA. That's
5:37
something. So, I ended up purchasing a
5:39
little souvenir here to go on my metal
5:42
cabinets in my garage. I've been
5:43
purchasing a few. I've got four or
5:45
five that I'm going to throw up on the
5:48
magnets when I Well, I'm not going to
5:49
actually throw I'm not going to
5:50
regurgitate on the mag. I'm going to
5:52
throw the magnets up on the metal
5:53
cabinet when I finally get home. In
5:56
fact, there are three three levels that
5:58
you can go on. There was the gift shop
6:00
level, which I was just on. Then there's
6:02
the secondary level you take an elevator
6:04
up to. And then from here, you can walk
6:06
Oh, it's sunny. Sun is coming through
6:08
there. Then from here, you can take a
6:10
staircase, which is right there, and
6:12
walk up to the tippy top level, the
6:14
farthest top level. I think I'm going to
6:15
take that staircase up. Hey, there's
6:17
another level, another inside level. So,
6:20
there's technically four levels. the
6:21
gift shop level, the level I was just
6:23
on, the level I'm on now, and the top
6:33
level. I made it up to the very top
6:33
level. All right, this is kind of
6:41
neat. A little static on there. My
6:44
knuckle touch that I'm holding the
6:46
camera. A little static electricity.
7:08
I like when you go to, you know, towers
7:08
like this that you get the open air
7:09
experience and not just enclosed behind
7:12
glass.
7:25
I'm pretty much at the top. The only
7:25
thing there is is just kind of this
7:27
antenna
7:28
thing. Sun glaring
7:39
awesome. All right, that's where I was.
7:39
I'm now down on street level and I am
7:42
now going to walk
7:44
through Chinatown here in Mexico City.
7:48
Most big cities will have a an area like
7:51
a Chinatown area. This is no exception.
7:54
All the street vendors out. You got the
7:56
archway
8:05
here. Take a look at these. Aren't these
8:05
cool? You got the little transformer
8:07
down here. Like they got Stitch over
8:08
there. But take a look at this old
8:10
transformer right here as it kind of
8:11
like morphs up. It's like battery
8:13
powered. Lions through here. Got all the
8:16
umbrellas up top there and all the
8:17
lanterns. Very nice. Been to China yet,
8:20
but it's definitely on my to-do list.
8:23
And I also haven't done any of the
8:25
international Disney parks yet, but
8:27
hoping by the end by the end of 2025,
8:31
I'll at least have done one of the
8:34
international Disney parks. Maybe not,
8:37
but it's it's a possibility. It's not
8:41
it's not completely on my radar to try
8:43
to knock all of them out in one chunk,
8:45
but over time over over a few years,
8:48
I'll probably get to all of them. But I
8:49
haven't been to China yet, but it's on
8:51
my
8:52
radar.
8:54
Eventually, at some point, I love the
8:56
little green walking guy here. Got the
8:59
little green walking guy. Got 3 seconds,
9:01
completely get across the road. Looking
9:05
for a record store.
9:06
I like to buy I did this in South Korea.
9:09
I bought a like an 80s K-pop band just
9:13
based on the album cover was pretty
9:14
amazing and I got home and I enjoyed it.
9:16
So, I like to do that here. I know I
9:17
won't be able to get vinyl from every
9:19
country I visit, but I like to have
9:21
records that share a
9:24
memory, core memories of places. Walking
9:28
through like a little shopping area
9:29
here. Some of it's open, some of it's
9:31
not
9:33
open. Actually, most of it's not open.
9:44
Something's over here. The roads are
9:44
blocked off. People are waiting possibly
9:46
for a parade or something. This whole
9:49
section here of the road
9:51
is blocked off next to this cathedral
9:58
here. San
10:01
Judith. Cathedral.
10:04
Vendors everywhere. Oh
10:06
wow. A pay phone here
10:12
too. Don't have a lot of these left in
10:50
areas. They're back there. They people
10:50
in that area did not want me filming, so
10:52
I stopped filming. That that is one of
10:54
those sections that evidently here in
10:56
Mexico City that is designated for a
10:58
smoking area. So, you can smoke uh weed
11:01
and cigarettes and things like that.
11:04
They had a whole banner put up over
11:06
there. And the closer I got, I realized
11:09
I they they didn't want me over there.
11:11
So, yeah. Now, I had thought this was an
11:13
active record store according to some
11:17
coordinates online, but it says bookshop
11:19
and it says Rena up there, which I'm
11:22
taking to me is not open anymore. So, if
11:25
this was the record store, it's no
11:26
longer open. It's got a chain down
11:30
here. Lock on it. Got Michael Myers
11:44
Dang. Sabotage. Sabotage records. That's
11:44
the name. Yes. I need my records and
11:47
animal records. Okay. A little 7 seconds
11:50
down here. They're closed doing some
11:51
reverb. Check out Circle Jerks right
11:54
there. Working on the floor. So, no luck
11:57
on being that one being open, but they
11:58
had a lot of punk rock stuff, but the
12:01
whole whole whole floor is being
12:03
renovated. So, they weren't open
12:05
today. Sat Trump. Interesting how these
12:08
trees are painted up to about the four
12:10
or five foot point. A lot of traffic in
12:12
Mexico City. Probably easier what I'm
12:14
doing just to
12:15
walk. Lot of traffic. A lot of
12:30
gridlock.
12:30
Yeah. Gridlock central.
12:40
This is the monuments Allah
12:48
Revolution. From what I heard, it was
12:48
going to be an entire complex, but they
12:51
stopped building it. And all it is is
12:53
this one centrical point
13:01
here. I believe there's an elevator you
13:01
can take. If it's open, might be able to
13:03
take an elevator to the top of it. Be
13:04
kind of
13:13
neat. Look like they had some sort of
13:13
event or going to have some sort of
13:14
event here.
13:16
Open. Oh, thank you.
13:19
Gracias. He said it was
13:25
open. Oh, look over
13:25
here. Big empty building.
13:33
No rooms on that at all. And there are
13:33
just vendors everywhere. Everywhere on
13:36
all the streets are just vendors
13:46
everywhere. The carvings are incredible.
13:46
Look at
13:47
this. They put like a mesh netting
13:50
around it most likely in case it chips
13:52
off, it won't fall on anyone.
13:55
It looks as if you go under the ground
13:58
to take the elevator to the top. There's
14:01
a little underground tunnel there that
14:04
reaches the top.
14:41
There are a couple levels of this as
14:41
well. There's the one that you can walk
14:42
around up here. You got to go down a
14:45
couple levels to a cafeteria which takes
14:48
you to an elevator. Not this one, the
14:50
one I took, but another elevator that
14:52
takes you up to the topless point, which
14:54
will be which will be
14:56
that that lookout area there. And from
14:58
here, it's already already a pretty good
15:00
view looking out down there. But I'm
15:02
going to go back down these stairs and
15:04
try to find the other elevator that
15:05
takes me up to the highest point. So,
15:07
you got to go down to get to the
15:08
elevator that takes you up down this
15:11
way. Very very cool steps here with the
15:13
what is that?
15:14
Brass. Silver. Brass.
15:23
Brass. Soothing sounds of the
15:23
sirens looking out across the city
15:25
there.
15:31
Cityscape. This is so cool though. So
15:31
evidently it wasn't just built for this
15:33
and then not finished. The whole thing
15:34
was completed and then was abandoned and
15:36
sat empty for many years. And they tore
15:38
they tore the south and north portions
15:41
off and just left this section. So this
15:43
is all that's left as a memorial. We
15:45
kind of wandered around the little
15:46
middle section looking for an elevator
15:48
and I got confused. There is no
15:50
elevator. Finally confirmed that it's
15:52
130 something or more steps up to the
15:55
observation tower. And at already a
15:58
7,000 ft elevation. Really is quite the
16:02
quite the walk up here. You definitely
16:05
feel it with that elevation. You know,
16:08
it's 2,000 ft higher than the Mile High
16:11
City at Denver. And then you do the
16:14
stairs on top of it. Yeah. Something
16:17
something
16:23
else. This is wild. Look at this. It's
16:24
like you're going to like the the arch
16:26
top
16:27
portion of this. Look at this. How it
16:29
kind of slants upward. There's still a
16:31
lot of steps to
16:33
go going
16:36
up. This is
16:38
something. And I wandered around. I went
16:40
up and down a bunch of different steps
16:41
in other areas thinking that I was
16:42
finding an elevator. And uh there is no
16:45
elevator. So I came back to these uh Oh,
16:47
here we go. Here we go. Yeah. Yeah.
16:49
Nice. Where am I right now? Look at
16:52
this. Like in the upper bowels, not the
16:54
bowels. I'm in the upper regions of this
16:58
tower. Only accessible by stairs.
17:01
All right, I think I'm almost there.
17:04
Think I'm almost to the
17:07
top. The
17:09
summit. This way. Arrow points this way.
17:12
More stairs. More
17:15
stairs to the summit. Come on. I got
17:18
this. I see sunlight. All right, I made
17:20
it. I got this plexi up around the
17:24
original metal
17:26
railing. That was a lot more strenuous
17:28
than I thought it was going to be
17:29
getting up here.
17:31
I don't think I might be the only one up
17:34
here besides the besides the worker with
17:37
the walkie-talkie that's up here.
17:39
Probably need the walkie-talkie just in
17:41
case someone climbs all the way up here
17:42
and passes out.
18:19
After about 30 seconds, I'm good now.
18:19
That
18:20
elevation elevation plus stairs is not
18:24
doesn't really do well for the till you
18:26
catch your
18:45
breath. Okay, going back down 153
18:45
stairs, she said.
18:54
And there's a different route back down
18:54
for the exit's. Let's see. Definitely
18:57
got to follow the
18:58
arrows. There we go.
19:08
Yes. Look at this. What that? This is so
19:08
cool. Oh, there it is. Right there.
19:10
There's an artistic
19:11
rendering right there. Watch your step
19:16
going down.
19:17
got this. This is pretty dang awesome.
19:21
This is pretty cool. Got to
19:29
admit such a neat little ambiance in
19:29
here with all
19:31
the metal railings and pylons, etc.
19:35
holding all of this
19:37
together. Whatever you
19:39
do, don't look
19:46
down. I almost lost my footing there.
19:46
You got to be careful. Very small, very
19:48
teeny tiny small steps. Look at the size
19:51
of these steps going down here. I mean,
19:53
these are just like a few
19:55
inches right
19:57
there. Going that way and then going
19:59
this way. Almost got
20:02
it. There we go. Some more artistic
20:07
renderings. Much much much easier going
20:11
down.
20:19
All right. See you at the bottom. Go
20:19
back to the exit elevator. You got to go
20:21
up more stairs up here to the exit
20:27
elevator. Some serious steps sound.
20:31
Serious steps sound. And there's there's
20:34
the elevator right
20:36
there. Right there. Well, the elevator
20:39
is down there, but it's going to be up
20:40
here. Didn't think it was going to be
20:41
that many stairs, but I got got a
20:43
workout in.
20:45
Um, and you like Yeah, it was great view
20:48
up there. Yes.
20:50
Have you been in here in other This is
20:53
your first time. First time in Mexico
20:56
City, but this is I've been here for
20:57
four or five days. Oh, but I haven't I
21:00
never been up here. You haven't been
21:02
here in the moment. This is the first
21:04
time. First time. Yes.
21:07
Oh, I could definitely use some
21:09
hydration, a water or Gatorade or a
21:11
Power Aid or some electrolytes or
21:13
something. I think I'm going to get
21:14
myself a I'm going to get myself a
21:16
water. Right across the road is a
21:19
7-Eleven. Trusty 7-Eleven. They're
21:22
everywhere. They are everywhere. All the
21:24
country. Well, most a lot of countries.
21:26
This electrolyte zero here. Zero
21:28
calories. There's some of the stuff in
21:31
here. It's like a tomato flavored chip
21:34
there. almost like ketchup flavored. I
21:36
guess I've seen those in the US, but
21:37
this would be tomato flavored here. And
21:39
you got all the little snacks and the
21:40
chips and the pizza and the Doritos and
21:44
Tostitos. All the just standard stuff.
21:46
And you got the cigarettes over there.
21:48
You got alcohol. It's They have alcohol
21:50
in here as
22:02
well. All right. Going to continue
22:02
walking. and see what I can
22:06
find. Now, I noticed the guy over there
22:08
is spray painted
22:11
purple. People tagged tagged all these
22:21
up. This is Growl G.
22:21
Victoria. His sword is missing, but the
22:24
handle of the sword is there.
22:37
Brawl G Victoria. Oh, this is a little
22:37
different. This is a different running
22:40
guy.
22:53
do a lot of walking about another mile.
22:53
Take this center point and walk towards
22:56
very famous angel sculpture which is
22:58
down that way. A little less than a
23:01
mile. This is like a deck of cards. It's
23:04
like a bench. It's all rusted
23:15
out. There's a piece of art. It almost
23:15
symbolizes or it resembles a canoe. It's
23:18
an animal,
23:19
but the torso of the animal is a
23:23
canoe. You can see this animal on the
23:26
back, a lizardous creature, has like a
23:29
paddle of some
23:31
sort. That's at least that's what I'm
23:33
representing it
23:35
as. The officer going
23:43
by. There it
23:43
is. The angel of independence. We're
23:49
here at this
23:50
very very goodiz roundabout.
24:21
Wonder if you can climb to this
24:21
thing. Looks as if there is a a railing
24:24
up
24:29
there. That would be that would be an
24:30
intense stair climb. Also again, the
24:33
elevation does not make it any
24:35
easier, especially when you're not
24:37
acclimated to it. Florida, being a
24:39
flidian, I don't have a lot of elevation
24:42
So, in fact, there's
25:31
Now, there is a door right over there.
25:32
That's the only door that would lead up.
25:33
It's locked and closed. There's no
25:35
admission fee to get in to go up that
25:38
door that would take you to the top. But
25:40
that would be the way to get up there.
25:42
But evidently, they don't let anybody up
25:44
there anymore. I'm already in need of of
25:46
another
25:47
water. Definitely thirsty. I think I
25:49
feel like I drink more when I'm out.
25:51
Feel like I've been drinking more here.
25:53
I just love the the look of this Circle
25:55
K here. Got to get across here before
25:57
the cars come across. Look at these
26:00
little things up here. They're like
26:01
little chocolate faces, like cookie
26:10
faces. I get a water now. I got hydrated
26:10
the electrolytes. I just get a standard
26:11
water.
26:23
Definitely need to stay hydrated here.
26:23
Circle cake
26:42
goodness over to a neighborhood now
26:42
known as Zona Rosa. Well, that's the
26:44
name of the neighborhood. Zona Rosa.
26:55
Like how much shade there is through
26:55
here getting out of the sun. Just a lot
26:59
of trees through here. It's beautiful.
27:01
This is quite the quite the traffic jam
27:04
here.
27:34
It's a good day. I just love walking
27:34
around, exploring, just seeing
27:37
things, stretching the legs, getting
27:40
some steps in. Serious steps in. seen a
27:42
lot of VW bugs, but today I've seen a
27:45
few VW buses also. Pretty common around
27:48
here, the VWs. Here's the gas
27:52
station. Looks as if
28:00
23.9 23.9 pesos is the
28:00
price. I guess that would be per gallon.
28:02
Hard to see. 23.9 pesos per gallon, I
28:05
guess, per liter. I'm going to say
28:07
probably not a gallon cuz US money
28:09
that's only like a$122 which would be
28:11
amazing. Check this out. It's a Star
28:14
Wars andor mural over
28:17
here. Pretty neat. I haven't got I've
28:20
gotten into a lot of the Disney Plus,
28:22
you know, from franchise Star Wars
28:24
shows, but I haven't got into Andor yet,
28:26
but I've heard it gets a little better
28:28
as it goes on. That's pretty neat. I
28:30
wasn't expecting to see this pretty cool
28:32
mural here of Andor.
28:50
onions. Not had much luck on record
28:51
stores. I looked up three or four and
28:54
when I walked all the way over to them,
28:55
they weren't
28:56
there. So, can't trust the interweb
28:59
sometimes.
29:27
back over to this market. Now there's
29:27
books. Maybe there'll be a stand with
29:30
some vinyl.
29:32
It's a
29:33
possibility. There's a little sculpture
29:36
of these hands here ripping around the
29:38
flag
29:45
pole. The flag up there. I do love all
29:45
the fountains all around the city.
29:48
Here's one. This little courtyard, all
29:50
the vendors all
29:52
over. But sometimes, you know, in the
29:54
States, you'll see vendors set up on the
29:57
weekends. As I'm filming this, it's a
29:59
Monday.
30:01
So, it's almost like a I say a flea
30:04
market, but kind of like a miniature
30:06
flea market all over the place. A lot of
30:09
it's like snacks and food and drinks and
30:11
things, but sometimes there's
30:13
merchandise, but rarely would you see
30:16
that happening on a weekday in the
30:20
States. It's every day here. Here's
30:23
another sculpture. It's all It's all
30:26
fenced
30:30
off right over here. or one of the main
30:30
thorough affairs outside of the park.
30:32
See a couple angels there. I'm sure back
30:35
when that was built, there was not
30:38
a apartment complex or a hotel there.
30:41
They were facing They were probably
30:42
facing towards that church. Yep, that's
30:45
what it was. They were looking towards
30:46
that church. You can see right there.
30:49
Yeah. Historic building off to the side
30:52
over there. They're putting up the
30:53
banner for one of those smoking areas.
30:56
They're about every five or 10 blocks
30:58
they put the banners up and you're
31:00
allowed to go over there and smoke
31:01
whatever you want. Another bug. They're
31:04
everywhere here. They're everywhere. Oh,
31:06
old school. New
31:08
school. I Whenever I see one of the new
31:11
school bugs, well, they've been around
31:13
for a while, but I always think of Fight
31:17
Club. You know, you know. There's the
31:19
front of the sculpture here.
31:35
All right, and that's going to do it for
31:35
today from Mexico City. Thanks for
31:37
watching. I'll see you in the next
31:38
video. I don't know what that noise was.
31:39
The vlog is over.
