0:06 Today is a historic day. The subject
0:06 matter spoiler alert will involve what
0:10 is behind that gate and pass that train
0:13 station here at Disneyland. Welcome
0:16 everyone. Adam the Woo here. In January
0:19 2016, I documented the final day the
0:22 closure of the island. Notice Tom
0:25 Soilers Soilers. Tom is going to soil
0:28 himself because today it is opening
0:30 back. I screwed that up. It's my second
0:32 channel, daily vlog channel. It's the
0:34 daily. After a year and a half, the
0:37 island is back open for business. First
0:41 things first, swap out the fuel
0:52 rod. I am going with the iced persuasion
0:52 today because let's be honest, it's a
0:54 little it's a little toasty out here.
0:56 here. A little It's a little warm.
0:59 Oh, that's good. But this is a sight
1:01 that has not been
1:03 seen in almost 18 months. Park
1:08 guests going across the
1:11 waterway over to Tom Sawyer's Island. Or
1:14 is it Pirates? Are they I'm not sure
1:17 what they're calling it now. But either
1:18 way, it is
1:20 officially accessible to park guests. I
1:23 I have to go over there. I'm pretty
1:25 excited about this. A board stating,
1:27 well, I guess technically it is still
1:29 the layer, but you can faintly see the
1:32 lettering of Tom Sawyer underneath that.
1:35 There's my pony. Isn't that what you
1:37 call it when you're you bet on a horse?
1:39 I'm not going to bet on this, but I'm
1:41 going to ride. Well, I don't I don't I
1:43 really don't I don't know the correct
1:44 terminology. The main land of New
1:46 Orleans Square is now distancing itself
1:50 from us. The haunted mansion is getting
1:52 fur. It's probably a good thing that the
1:54 haunted mansion is getting further away
1:56 cuz that place is a little a little
1:58 creepy. Oh yeah, I am trotting on dirt
2:02 soil. Feels good. Feels very good. Not
2:06 only me, but countless others in recent
2:09 days have stood over on that shoreline
2:11 looking this direction wondering when
2:13 the heck are they going to reopen that
2:15 thing? And they have. And the canoes,
2:18 they're still here. Look at that. the
2:20 canoes, they still exist. And it's
2:23 definitely good to see that Fort
2:25 Wilderness still remains. We can't
2:27 wander around inside it. However, it's
2:29 specifically for cast members, but it's
2:32 pretty awesome that the structure is
2:34 still standing. And the really
2:36 interesting thing is all these areas are
2:39 accessible to park guests, but if you
2:41 just look off the shore a little bit,
2:43 you can see some of the construction
2:45 happening. Future goodness being
2:48 created. I for one am looking very
2:51 forward to standing on the Mark Twain
2:53 and being cruised through the rivers of
2:56 America. Hopefully that happens very
2:58 soon. And then shortly after and
3:00 probably another year, year and a half,
3:02 two years all that over there will open.
3:05 Star Wars
3:07 Land. That's it's it's kind of the
3:10 facade in front of Well, it's not Star
3:11 Wars Land, but it's the facade in front
3:13 of Star Wars Land. I would assume the
3:16 price tag on all these construction
3:18 updates is pretty pricey. I thought they
3:20 would have tapped into all this pirates
3:22 treasure to help pay for it, but nope.
3:24 It's all still just sitting here for the
3:28 taking. In all reality though, it's
3:30 glued together. It's all It's all
3:32 sealed. You You can't do a Scrooge
3:35 McDuck dive in there like from DuctTales
3:37 when he's swimming around through the
3:38 money. You'd probably injure your neck.
3:40 It's kind of blowing my mind that you
3:43 can just look over and
3:45 see a construction worker painting one
3:48 of the lions. I don't know if that
3:51 should be shown or not, but it's all in
3:54 plain sight. Anyone Anyone can see it.
3:56 Wait for it. Wait for it. Wait for it.
4:00 Wait for There he is. There he is.
4:07 That guy has been holding his breath for
4:10 so long. Feels good to breathe, doesn't
4:13 it, buddy? Feels good to be Yep. He's
4:15 going back under. He's Well, fail. You
4:18 guys excited? You guys excited about the
4:21 future here at the park? Oh my gosh.
4:24 Look, there's some little babies down
4:26 there. They don't even remember the
4:28 past. The only reality they have is the
4:32 current. They have nostalgia. this.
4:34 They're building their memories as we
4:38 speak. That's a good view right there.
4:40 Pirates of the Caribbean just past that
4:43 tree
4:43 line. One thing about the island that's
4:46 really cool is you can get away from the
4:48 hustle and bustle of the rest of the
4:50 park and just hang out here on a
4:54 dock. I got to check this dock out. I
4:57 got to check this out, Doc. I got to I
5:00 got to Doc. I got to Yeah, that's that's
5:02 that's a hard one to that's a hard one
5:04 to quote when you're on a dock. This is
5:06 a very peculiar plant growing on the
5:09 side of the tree. Maybe it's even a
5:11 fruit. Kind of
5:13 resembles a grape
5:17 perhaps. I've never seen those before.
5:20 Very interesting. Now, I cannot speak
5:22 for the West Coast version of Disney,
5:24 but in Florida at Magic Kingdom, a
5:27 reliable source told me that the wheel,
5:29 the water wheel over there, never turns
5:31 off. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it
5:35 continues to move. This one I'm not 100%
5:38 sure about, but it it could be true.
5:40 This is the platform where fantasmic
5:44 happens. If you look closely, you can
5:46 see the little cracks in the trap door,
5:50 if you will. These are where some of the
5:52 characters pop out and that crazy dragon
5:55 that protrudes up to the heavens pops
5:58 out right in this area and the throngs
6:01 of people who have and will in the
6:03 future stand over there on the shoreline
6:06 watching the magic happen. And I think
6:09 they're bringing it back very soon. We
6:11 will see Mickey up there on that roof.
6:14 Dang. Well, he's a brave guy standing on
6:17 a roof, emitting out fire from his hands
6:19 like a like a m like a wizard. It all
6:22 happens right here. It's pretty Whoa. I
6:23 just about I just about created my own
6:25 magic and stumbled over that rock. I do
6:28 love me some
6:30 fantasmic. It's really cool to be
6:33 standing right in the spot where it all
6:35 goes
6:36 down right across the waterway there. I
6:40 wonder if people standing over there
6:41 know they can get back on the island now
6:43 or if they think, man, what are those
6:45 few people doing over there? Do they get
6:47 special permission? When in reality,
6:50 nope. Anyone can come over here. And now
6:52 that I see the accessibility of these
6:54 weapons, it really makes me think highly
6:57 of Mickey Mouse for not resorting to
6:59 just running over here and grabbing a
7:00 gun or a sword to defeat evil. He does
7:04 it in his own happy way. and not he
7:07 doesn't he doesn't he doesn't resort to
7:10 weaponry because if a 29 or 30 footish
7:13 dragon that really meant me harm
7:15 appeared in front of me, I would
7:17 probably I'd probably have some kind of
7:19 thing and and be jabbing at it. That's
7:21 that's that's just
7:29 me. Whatever you
7:29 do, don't look down. It's actually not
7:34 that high. It's actually It's actually
7:36 not too too terribly bad. Not Not too
7:39 terribly. I get asked a lot where I got
7:40 that reference from. It's from Ace
7:42 Ventura 2 when he's holding the raccoon
7:44 on the cliff. He says that and it's
7:47 always stuck with me. So, I throw it in
7:48 from time to time until now. The best
7:50 view of this would have been the top of
7:52 Splash Mountain right before you
7:54 plummet just like they did looking over
7:57 in the But now I'm standing here looking
7:59 at Splash Mountain. The tables have been
8:03 turned. Not everything is quite
8:05 operational though. The caves are not
8:07 currently open. They are being blocked
8:09 by trash cans. I wanted to go in the
8:11 caves, but probably saving me a little
8:14 terrifying moment. So, I can Thank you,
8:16 trash cans. It is now about time for me
8:18 to board a boat departing back over to
8:21 the mainland. You can even see the
8:23 parking structure off on the horizon
8:25 there and a train bridge that will be
8:30 being used very soon. The rumor is
8:32 shortly after D23, the day after on the
8:35 62nd anniversary, the trains will run
8:38 again. I will post the link to the video
8:41 I did back at the beginning of 2016, the
8:45 last time I was over there if you want
8:47 to check below this video and watch that
8:49 one and match it up to what I just saw
8:51 today if you feel like it. You don't
8:53 have to, but if you want to, the the
8:54 link will be there. Around Tom Sawyer
8:56 Island now, Pirates layer for the last
8:58 time. This is the last vlog for quite
9:01 some time. Yes, at least for a year and
9:03 a half, almost 2 years before it is
9:05 reopened. And the hopes and dreams and
9:08 aspirations that Star Wars Land will be
9:10 epic. Time goes by very quickly. When
9:12 that closed, I thought, man, it's going
9:13 to seem like forever till it's open
9:15 again. And now it's open again. And with
9:17 that, departure is at hand. I came to
9:20 see what I wanted to see, and now I'm
9:36 The proximity of everything is so close
9:36 here. You can walk out of the entry
9:38 gates and across the street to a
9:41 plethora of businesses and nonpark
9:45 operational restaurants. Do you ever
9:47 have a certain food that you get at a
9:49 certain restaurant? Every time I eat at
9:50 a Panera Bread, I always get the
9:52 broccoli and cheese bread bowl. What's
9:54 up, fellas?
9:56 What are you guys doing? Just getting
9:58 some food. Getting a little dend. Yeah,
10:01 I just ate myself. Had a bread
10:04 bowl. You ever have bread? I know you
10:07 eat bread like off the ground, but have
10:08 you ever had a bread bowl with that
10:10 broccoli and chi? Tastes pretty good.
10:14 Try it sometime. Just standing outside
10:16 the Walmart drinking my cool, crisp,
10:19 delicious water. It's an open container,
10:22 but it's
10:24 non-alcoholic. So, I am permit signs
10:27 signs everywhere.
10:29 Sign. And even though this one says no
10:32 loitering or trespassing, how long do
10:35 you have to be standing in front of a
10:37 place before you're technically
10:39 considered loitering? I just spent a
10:41 couple dollars on this and I'm walking
10:43 out. I'm just trying to stay in the
10:44 shade before I walk back in the sun. But
10:47 another thing that's kind of combats
10:49 this sign that says there is no
10:52 soliciting. No soliciting. But yet this
10:55 sign here says that if you do solicit
10:59 that you are not tied into Walmart's
11:02 corporation. It says the views of the
11:05 solicitor outside of our establishment
11:08 do not necessarily represent those of
11:11 Walmart or its associates.
11:14 Yet over here it says no
11:18 soliciting. Can I
11:20 solicit? Can anyone solicit? Like if I
11:24 was to say, "Would you like a drink of
11:25 water?" If I was to any of these people
11:27 walking in, if they were thirsty and I
11:29 said, "Have have a sip." Would that be
11:31 considered soliciting? And if I did
11:35 that, out of the kindness of my heart,
11:37 would it be frowned upon by Walmart and
11:39 not tied into their very, very confusing
11:45 Vlog over. Don't look now. He's
11:48 soliciting
