0:04 mom Christmas day has come and gone but
0:07 there's still plenty of holiday
0:09 festivities and decorations around
0:12 Central Florida where are we mama bought
0:20 our give her best place here in Florida
0:24 you ever been here before yes I was here
0:28 once three years ago two years ago give
0:31 or take but there are some activities
0:33 taking place currently that we're not
0:36 open when I was here there's a new guest
0:37 center and I believe some Christmas
0:40 season decorations and a house like a
0:43 mansion of some sort so we should check
0:45 that out
0:52 you distracted by the bamboo now hear
0:52 this creaking are you ready all right
1:00 I've IDing you to join me and my mom
1:02 shalyah the olmstead house
1:31 what type of moss is that to hang shamaa
1:31 the limbs up there like Spanish moss
1:44 it's very beautiful you see different
1:44 coloration
2:22 hanging out in the treehouse it's the
2:22 same material country so they just took
2:28 the bamboo similar to what we were
2:30 standing in front of and built this
2:33 little building
2:53 it's new now so twelve times standing in
2:53 the parking lot before you even entered
2:55 the attraction premises
3:07 9
3:07 be patient
3:22 well
3:22 it's time high in wood estates
3:25 celebrating 25 years here at the tower
3:29 gardens and turn it into a sanctuary for
3:39 birds and and people and so this was
3:44 actually about 91 years ago and so he
3:49 was an immigrant that came here from the
3:52 Netherlands when he was six years old
4:42 there is a general layout of the land
4:42 this guide map of ginormous proportions
4:48 current location right here next to the
4:52 visitors center entrance and you can see
4:55 just the expansiveness of this area and
5:00 the main focal point right up here
5:02 the singing tower give or take an eight
5:07 minute
5:07 eight minute walk from where I'm at if
5:09 there's no stops of course there will be
5:12 because there's plenty to see so more
5:16 than a mess
5:18 this facility no this was here on my
5:22 last visit
5:24 in case you were wondering my mom is is
5:27 very active I think I get a lot of my my
5:30 type of energy from her she does not
5:33 stop moving kind of like me
5:36 one man's vision and his gift to the
5:40 American profile Edward W Bach 1863 to
5:47 1930
5:57 scale model even this is
5:57 impressive
6:05 at 1:00 p.m. they're going to set off
6:05 the bells in triumphant fashion we're
6:11 gonna be here to document it an example
6:16 of the tile work which can be seen on
6:18 there the sight of it near the top we're
6:22 here in this display case get a closer
6:24 peek this instrument will be delivering
6:28 the beautiful melodies pictured here is
6:31 one of the first gentlemen who played
6:35 the Carol Lanier
6:38 well the Carolina the carol own ear
6:42 would be the musician that played it's a
6:47 little confusing but I think I got right
6:51 and it's available on vinyl or at least
6:53 used to be how did you pronounce that
6:56 hero law a caramel Caroline so the
7:01 person who plays the instrument is a
7:02 Caroline here how do you pronounce it
7:10 Carolyn here yeah alright a Caroline
7:14 probably saying that totally totally in
7:17 the wrong fashion as a Penant some place
7:22 new ways of the garden you got a little
7:27 rice krispies container some souvenirs
7:32 that is a postcard glass salt and pepper
7:36 shakers in the shape of the tower
7:39 remember when the big thing was cluck in
7:42 this place
7:44 this image from 1929 shows that damage
7:48 to one Baron sculpture the top of the
7:51 scene tower after witness provide a
7:53 lightning strike that hit the ball
7:56 authority comes them
8:05 it's a big pelican lightning-rod I
8:05 thought it was a lightning rod but
8:14 make the wads inside of it and then they
8:14 do that on top of it I guess I'm just
8:17 guessing
8:18 so I'm lightning damage marble so it
8:24 hits that instead of hitting the power
8:26 may be up it might just be the piece
8:28 that got destroyed nonetheless it's up
8:48 desiccate designated in 1993 by the
8:48 National Park Service's can already hear
8:58 some noises up ahead yeah little
9:07 squirrel hi there how you doing well
9:30 okay see you later the shrubbery huge
9:30 these leaves
9:31 you're going into the you're going into
9:34 the wilderness yeah she's trapped oh wow
9:43 there's something like yeah what's down
9:46 in there
9:54 you guys see the fish I can't see him
9:55 but I see the water rustling oh yeah you
9:59 can totally see him now this sign up you
10:02 know they're swimming off faintly in the
10:05 water there was a neighbor by these like
10:07 kind of manmade toads toadstool type
10:10 items yeah that wasn't too bad of a hike
10:25 no I can't see the Sun is the tiles oh
10:25 the Pelican let me get a different angle
10:27 of Sun versus makes it tough to see
10:30 quite a few koi a plethora of koi and
10:34 they're not going hungry then you have
10:38 little little pellets food pellets and
10:41 toss soon so lots a lot of koi
10:57 wonder how you tell adenosine a girl and
10:57 a boy boy Edward Bach to hide within
11:03 sight of this tower on january 9th 1930
11:06 at his request his family placed his
11:09 grave in the lawn in front of the great
11:11 brass door there's the brass door and
11:15 there's his final resting place
11:24 very interesting around the entire
11:24 circumference of the tower is this moat
11:27 you cannot cross it at least by this
11:30 bridge this gate is locked
11:33 very heavy if I even stop moving for you
11:37 know a minute at the most it's kind of a
11:39 hide-and-seek game with my mother can
11:42 you see her just adventures on her own
11:46 there she is way over there given the
11:49 perfect the perfect photo or maybe a
11:53 selfie to be taking a selfie and just
11:56 below the cloud line that's a better
11:57 perspective of those little Pelican
11:59 looking engravings up there she did have
12:05 the right idea however this is probably
12:07 the best angle from this distance about
12:11 30 yards 30 yards from it you see the
12:16 whole thing in one shot very peaceful
12:20 out here
12:21 plenty of people meandering around just
12:24 waiting patiently for the bells to toll
12:26 well guess the organ to play is it an
12:29 organ that thing did I know I've already
12:33 forgotten the night Vale just a door I'm
12:41 noticing that door on the second level
12:44 up there too oh yeah top see about 25
12:48 feet up you can faintly see if there's a
12:52 door and a ledge in my imagination I'm
12:54 picturing Quasimodo coming out of that
12:56 door I don't think that's gonna happen
13:00 that no here's a look from the opposite
13:04 view on top of a hill looking downward
13:09 not a lot of elevation in this neck of
13:11 the woods but this is a little elevated
13:14 and kind of see for a few miles
13:18 you're probably right mom
13:20 was dedicated and presented for
13:24 vegetation the you were saying normally
13:39 it's not pre-recorded but today it is
13:41 for the holidays well today our guests
13:44 cure the resident Carol inure is not in
13:47 the country right now
13:49 Carol and nor we were trying to figure
13:51 out how to pronounce that and it's a
13:52 half hour chef okay could I get one of
13:55 those sure and this this was a this was
13:57 recorded on the bells is a live concert
14:01 when it was recorded and so it is
14:02 recording that was played on this
14:05 Caroline Oh excellent never years back
14:07 okay here are the pieces right here all
14:10 right Thank You Simon facts about the
14:11 tower right okay okay I appreciate the
14:14 info thank you thank you so much for
14:15 having me on YouTube has begun and
14:19 faintly hear them
14:26 very beautiful amazing how it just looms
14:26 over the very tall trees the thing is
14:29 high
14:35 cumulonimbus moving by of it
14:56 yeah you know what those are they're
14:59 called B hi ginger
15:03 it's a real beehive of activity I
15:06 started to write it's not downpouring
15:11 but certainly very prominent and this is
15:14 a kiss is a good angle perspective of
15:16 the tower as well from this distance
15:18 next up Pinewood a state through this
15:22 archway that is properly adorned and
15:26 even from way over here you just so
15:28 faintly hear the music almost just as
15:31 loud as it was when we're standing
15:32 underneath it it's just kind of an
15:35 interesting phenomenon it echoes
15:44 not to be confused
15:44 okay
15:50 just about every day at least one of
15:50 their names was called a screw pine
15:56 because it looks like yeah it kind of
16:00 twists around almost like I think he
16:03 built his home in 1932 32 and it was
16:06 1978 about our purchase of property and
16:10 we maintained several events this is our
16:13 25th year of never made every year is
16:16 totally different than the year before
16:18 beauty of nature surrounds us so you
16:21 will see a lot of nature brought into
16:23 the house whole company is a huge is
16:26 Citrus County if we brought our citrus
16:28 into the house
16:37 butler's pantry it was a precursor to
16:41 making stainless steel it didn't take
16:43 off because it is patented it did take
16:45 off because it's to expect
16:47 so unit slipping some lovely say we're
17:09 looking for squirrel yeah yeah he's
17:11 right over there under the slug yeah
17:13 these doors are pocket doors they slide
17:16 open into the wall and if the east-west
17:19 exposure that East Side is Mediterranean
17:22 garden the west side is English garden
17:37 walked our when the first got that thing
17:37 that it was kind of dark is it's mr.
17:41 Peterson was quite a smoker particular
17:45 cigars and of course they have to
17:48 restore it so tonight the tower still
17:51 looks the same it is same so the pieces
17:54 that you see
18:28 creaky floors really adds to the mood of
18:55 okay it either goes in the ground but
18:55 he's kind of stuck out in there and
18:57 these are air plants here is very very
19:14 large backyard it's quite the
19:14 congregation of folks here to check out
19:16 this house very beautiful he'd get up at
19:53 the top of that tower and play the music
19:57 for everyone that's gonna do it for
