0:35 freeway does end up here and a half a
0:37 mile parking lots are much busier than
0:41 last time I was here that week or two
0:44 ago when technically the beaches were
0:47 not accessible but they are now things
0:50 are progressing and plenty of people are
0:52 out enjoying the sights sounds and surf
0:57 the destination is directly ahead
1:01 Charlie's Chili celebrated 50 years back
1:04 in 2017 opened in 1967 and they have
1:09 tables that you can sit on Jay is here
1:12 as well this was actually his suggestion
1:15 cuz we were here I didn't I don't
1:17 remember the calendar but you member how
1:18 long ago was we were here riding our
1:20 bikes around semi recently maybe 10 days
1:22 or so more in cognate in fact I got this
1:24 hat right over there
1:27 at that surf shop that was open it was
1:29 one of the few things that were over but
1:30 now there's a lot more open in place
1:32 looks like it - he's getting a beehive
1:34 of activity to be so real beehive so
1:37 they have breakfast they have lunch
1:39 they have chili bats of chili I love a
1:42 fan of chili I've heard a variety of
1:44 notions on how to keep the glasses from
1:47 fogging up and I have not personally
1:49 tried any of them yet they really get
1:53 fogged up when you take them off and ah
1:55 like I see I can see very well now I
1:58 can't but when I put it back on is
2:01 that's when that's when it really starts
2:04 to get hazy in the lenses I think the
2:06 secret is to get your glasses yes you
2:09 take the lenses out then you put your
2:11 glasses back on no father
2:12 booms PAC glasses back at first I was
2:17 thinking we'd be able to walk out to the
2:18 end of the Newport pier but whoa that
2:22 bird just flew by but it looks as if the
2:24 the gate is closed
2:37 was another one they're landing it's a
2:37 seagull there are pigeons and there are
2:41 seagulls aplenty
2:49 and a lot of happy people out there
2:49 having a good old time
2:51 a lot of circus whoa whoa whoa oh my
2:57 goodness look at that crowd of fowl
3:10 they're just waiting to loom I'm crying

3:10 this is mr. closed why are they out
3:12 there and we can't it's a good point

3:21 fogging up I can't even see what I'm

4:01 and I'm gonna eat them on a Chow to have
4:02 shove it in yeah foods going down well
4:05 like that looks to be some a little
4:08 picnic area over there as well here at
4:12 McFadden Wharf now called Newport Wharf
4:17 the original Wharf that the site was
4:19 completed in the winter of 88 to 89 of
4:22 the 1800s and was connected by railroad
4:25 with the hinterland in the winter of
4:28 1890 to 91 did you know that yes o
4:31 donnell it still Beach Huntington Beach

4:44 Wharf not Newport yeah okay we're so

5:01 things and now it's time I take a gander
5:04 at the menu real quick this paper
5:07 pamphlet that I received there from the
5:09 front door so they have breakfast served
5:11 all day and all night they have burgers
5:13 and sandwiches they have appetizers and
5:15 possibly the world's greatest chili
5:19 cheese omelet what are your thoughts on
5:21 that I mean it's pretty darn good you
5:24 ever had it I have had it and it's great
5:26 what do you should I get it I think you
5:28 have to get that kind of a win in Rome
5:30 moment you definitely have to get it so
5:32 I'm gonna get that what do you think it
5:34 what are you kind of looking towards
5:35 well if you're doing breakfast yeah
5:37 we'll go to lunch round okay this is a
5:39 chilly place yes so I'm gonna do maybe a
5:41 chili cheeseburger I like that so we get
5:44 the best of breakfast and lunch I'm
5:46 gonna do that so I'm gonna get there
5:49 cheese omelet and you're gonna I may
5:52 change my mind that's what I'm leaning
5:53 towards there probably will be plenty of
5:55 chili on the omelet itself but if I
5:57 wanted a little more you can order up to
5:59 three gallons of chili for $77 or just
6:05 the right amount if you're not really is
6:06 quite so hungry for fifty five bucks you
6:08 only get two got one about that tide be
6:10 over through the evening inside now to
6:13 order real quick some signage here
6:15 saying established once again in 1967
6:17 step back outside now just waiting
6:19 patiently for the food to be prepared so
6:24 check those out
6:24 they were cones never it might get old
6:30 but to me it never gets old
6:31 it's happening at the bag full of treats

6:43 doesn't get much better than this
6:45 this holy moly feel can you feel how
6:47 heavy that is holy cow that's like I
6:50 mean your belly's is that mine this is
6:53 like a couple pounds at least yeah

7:03 the chili so that sure chilli has bean
7:05 chili emptily cheeseburger
7:07 oh this is what we're dealing Jay this
7:11 thing oh that is some serious weight and
7:15 my my fingers are starting to get a
7:17 little toasty cuz this is very freshly
7:20 cooked and and warm got this I always go
7:24 for soured up what's your what is your
7:26 bread of choice
7:27 my father summertime yeah I don't know
7:29 what it is about sourdough it always
7:30 like pulls me in like like a tractor
7:32 beam yeah this is a double patty I don't
7:35 think so it's a single just nice-sized
7:37 patty nice size patty got why this chili
7:40 on the burger itself as well as chili
7:42 underneath it's like drenched this is
7:44 not gonna be pretty these are not home
7:46 fries or at least in the southern states
7:47 they call them home fries would this be
7:49 a gratin all gratin but is it all around
7:52 with cheese
7:53 it doesn't I'll run him cheese or you
7:55 might be right with his cheese on the
7:56 omelet so it's like by association all
8:00 all all gratin yeah I think I'm going
8:03 right in you're just gonna dive on in
8:05 yeah I'm gonna take my hat my hat off
8:06 cuz it's gonna get everywhere is it on

8:09 we who knows where it's gonna go I don't
8:11 how it's dripping mmm you're right it is

8:23 Oh how's the chili it's really good the
8:27 chili is good I like spicy chili but
8:29 this chili is not that spicy but it's
8:30 still really good
8:31 so my Chili's inside inside the omelette
8:35 yeah well you got that all over here all
8:37 over your hands come on I'm gonna do the
8:41 same and remove head we're wise choice
8:45 my friend why it's choice I'll hang in
8:47 here bigger then this is uh there's a
8:49 hole my gosh look at all that down in
8:50 there atlases Lord arias cheese goodness
8:54 going on here that's a big bite okay
8:57 well I lost a little bit I was gonna be
8:58 a little easier to consume mm-hmm nope
9:03 get that cheese dripping right down down

9:10 really huh good huh the whole thing
9:12 going up I think I've ever had a chili
9:15 cheese olive before well you my friend
9:17 have been missing out this is good

9:20 world-famous for this is possibly
9:23 possibly the greatest have you had
9:25 better wants to look I'm losing for that
9:27 dang I got another shirt tonight
9:33 No hmm that's a pepper it's some sort of
9:38 thing in the omelet that's pretty good
9:40 now some good flavors
9:50 love it we Hilux potatoes you got the
9:50 potatoes Wow yep perfect love your style

10:25 that's that way huh what we'll do no not
10:29 to go there someday so why is this pier
10:31 not open that others are that's what I
10:35 want to know what gives

10:53 fries and an egg on a sandwich there's
10:57 another one of the peppers all of it
11:01 one Mike I have to say there's a lot of
11:03 downsides to the last month or two
11:06 there's a lot of positives I am eating
11:09 it a lot of delicious food that I
11:11 normally have would not neglect it but
11:14 avoided and in such a hurry to embrace
11:19 and document in my stomach
11:21 world's expanding it's not the only
11:23 thing that's very much my stomach is
11:26 slowly slowly but surely in the series
11:32 is over I'm at the start another series
11:35 involves not eating every single day
11:39 count me out of that one he won't be a
11:42 godfather finally I'll be eating every
11:43 day
11:43 I mean I'm gonna eat every day but it
11:46 won't be we won't be dripped in chili
11:47 and cheese and alarming the rate bars
11:49 you know Charlie wasn't messing around
11:54 charlie not only did not surf but also
11:58 knew what he was up a car li don't sir
