Knott’s Berry Farm Ghost Town & Returning To My Bike Wreck Location - Scarred In Orange County

0:14 first one being Nots Berry Farm in bua

0:17 Park California I am not wearing an

0:21 Studios Hollywood shirt that I purchased

0:24 yesterday when I was checking out the

0:26 Sheridan up there but I have made my way

0:28 southbound to the o Orange County going

0:31 to pop in and get a season pass an

0:34 annual their version of the annual pass

0:37 because end of July well middle to end

0:39 of July also August

0:43 September and possibly months after that

0:46 I will be back in SoCal for at least a

0:49 few days to a week on each of those

0:51 months and it just makes sense to go

0:53 ahead and have an annual pass and I'll

0:56 do some other things today I'm inviting

0:57 you to join me see where the day lead it

1:05 going to probably pop down to orange the

1:07 orange circle old stomping ground check

1:09 out the newly renovated fountain that

1:12 was hit about a year ago it was

1:14 destroyed they fixed it back up and just

1:21 be completely honest I didn't think it'd

1:23 be this busy at their opening it's 10:00

1:26 a.m. is when they open today as I'm

1:28 filming this again it is is a weekday

1:30 it's a

1:31 Thursday there's a ton of people here I

1:33 was thinking it would be mellow on a

1:35 weekday but evidently not a beehive of

1:43 activity oh I can hear Ghost Rider the

1:43 coaster about to drop in I don't know if

1:46 I'm going to go on any attractions or

1:47 rise cuz it looks like it's really

1:49 really really

1:52 busy but I love some knots again want to

1:56 get a new season pass which I think with

1:59 the way knots were works as opposed to

2:01 Universal in Disney season pass goes

2:04 till New Year's it doesn't go a full 12

2:07 months Nots known for their Bo and

2:10 berries they had their boisenberry

2:11 Festival but I believe that's already

2:14 ended I already missed that now years

2:16 ago when I used to live both in Orange

2:18 and in Anaheim and I would come up here

2:20 used to be able to walk through here to

2:21 go to some restrooms but in here was a

2:24 water wheel there was a fireplace which

2:26 I believe was a replica of George

2:28 Washington's fireplace but this this

2:30 door has not been open for years now

2:33 they haven't reopened it but they do

2:34 have pickled

2:36 asparagus pickle I wonder if they still

2:39 have the this is what I was referring to

2:42 yeah I us to I used to live in the area

2:44 I'd always get like a bottle this this

2:45 last a long time you just like put like

2:47 a teaspoon or a tablespoon in a big

2:50 drinking glass with water you Stir It Up

2:52 and you got yourself some BO and Berry

2:54 Punch concentrate you always know you're

2:56 in the knots gift shop before you walk

2:58 in when you see this big oversized bear

3:01 love it and my two favorite attractions

3:03 here are the Calico Mine Train the Mine

3:05 ride and the log ride what if they have

3:07 I'm not going to buy this shirt but what

3:08 if they have the log ride shirt too

3:10 that's a really great Calico Saloon

3:11 shirt and then over here they have the

3:14 step uh the uh Butterfield Stage Coach

3:17 also these are these shirts are new

3:19 since the last time I was here even a

3:20 shirt representing the caddy Wampus and

3:22 there's even some little miniature caddy

3:24 Wampus is over here for $14.99 whatever

3:27 that is there's a 1960s version of the

3:29 Cal Co Mine Company I kind of was hoping

3:31 to do that today thinking there would be

3:33 a whole lot of people here but I was

3:35 completely wrong it is really really

3:36 busy so I'm sure the wait times will be

3:39 pretty astronomical I could go by and

3:42 say hi to sad ey Joe however always good

10:40 over here where the fountain is on CU

10:44 usually when I'm here they got this

10:45 decorated for Halloween or Mary Farm or

10:48 some other event or the fountain is not

10:50 working but the fountain is in fact on

11:13 reopened that might be one of the Barry

11:15 tale characters to be honest I'm not

11:20 five coasters everywhere that one's

11:22 dropping in Coast Rider over there which

11:25 kind of like goofy Sky school is

11:28 happening and this drop went in here

11:30 which don't remember what the name of

11:32 that one is accelerator is the one off

11:34 on the end but the one right there is

11:36 about to to drop in it opened a couple

11:39 years ago actually I think it opened

11:40 when I was still living here there it

11:42 goes it's it's going in and it's going

11:44 to whirl its way around the boardwalk

11:46 area very busy as well I think there's a

11:49 lot of groups that are here today which

11:51 is making up for the uh the amount of

11:53 people that is here the Ghost Rider I'm

11:56 here in the Ghost Rider wooden coaster

11:58 is like a two or three three or more

11:59 hour waight

12:07 so one the B out here next to Mary Tales

12:07 playing playing some tunes walking

12:09 through this area character over here

12:40 cool and if that doesn't strike your

12:42 fancy you could get an amazing artichoke

12:44 shirt or even a tasteful turnip tea the

12:48 ticket I ended up purchasing that

12:50 includes parking so the parking you have

12:52 to add on it's like another $80 for

12:54 year-long parking but it is $30 to park

12:57 so it is worth it to get that was around

12:59 $200 that includes being able to pop in

13:03 here whenever does not include the water

13:05 park that's across the street it's just

13:07 for knots proper and parking so anytime

13:11 I want to come here throughout the rest

13:12 of the year parking is included and

13:14 admission is now included out of side

13:16 out of M $200 the old

13:25 west compared to some of the other theme

13:25 parks it's a pretty good deal for season

13:28 pass give myself a badge if I so

13:31 choose right there look at that I can be

13:35 a sherff also got a train whistle there

13:38 and they got some really kind of old

13:40 timey items behind here you got hop skip

13:43 and jump rope see what we got over

13:47 here there's a paddle booat I never

16:45 knots over in the Camp Snoopy area right

16:48 now it's going through a little bit of a

16:49 a refurb even got over here some walls

16:52 as well out of my peripheral vision I'm

16:54 seeing something here come the

16:57 bulldozers it looks as if

17:00 if the ferris wheel has been removed

17:04 no the scary Ferris wheel is gone yeah

17:07 very exciting Camp Snoopy new family

17:10 coaster being built right there more to

17:11 explore in 24 the later this

17:22 always something else to ride on there

17:49 up there the knots Tower the sky tower I

17:52 think that's called I don't know why I'm

19:27 really love the timber Mountain log ride

19:31 the line is like insanely long however

19:35 I'm got to kind of hold all my opinions

19:38 on when I go on Tiana's valou Adventure

19:42 but will this be the superior log ride

19:44 now now the splash is gone I don't know

19:47 I love this attraction there are so many

19:50 animatronics on it a caval to

19:53 animatronics just like the log ride or

19:55 just like the Calico mine train ride but

19:58 this is a great log ride really close in

20:02 enjoyment to Splash Mountain that was

20:04 over at DIS I don't know if it compared

20:05 with Splash Mountain at Disney World cuz

20:08 that was a little bit better than

20:08 anaheim's version but yeah I actually

20:10 preferred this over Splash Mountain

20:13 at he's excited he's very

20:18 excited I think he probably likes us

20:20 better than tiis I know Tiana is going

20:22 to be good but I haven't ridden it

20:25 yet just a couple

20:29 people here and of course got the cigar

20:31 store Indian over here selling his

20:33 wees as well he's got a box down there

20:36 then you got a roll of cigars another

20:39 cigar there as well there we go you got

20:43 the old engine system

20:46 tonic kidneys liver and

20:49 stomach ailment remedy for sale here

21:03 farm they've redone it they repainted it

21:06 reemed it touched it up a little

21:14 bit did not expect knot to be that busy

21:14 today I got to be honest it was slam

21:17 packed at least the the ride wait times

21:20 were very L made the commuta pretty

21:22 close to the orange circle now place

21:24 called Santi Santiago Park Nature

21:27 Reserve it's home to nocturnal and D

21:32 neural never even heard that word before

21:38 Wildlife I mean I know nocturnal I heard

21:40 the other word oh there's a butterfly

21:50 there animals at Forge are most active

21:50 at at dawn and Twilight are

21:53 called crepas skura

21:56 oh train going by was the surf line

22:00 there so this is Santiago Park there's a

22:03 dried River bed right here walking

22:05 distance pretty lengthy walk but a short

22:08 bike

22:09 ride from where I live by the orange

22:11 circle and the reason I mentioned that

22:14 is because I did a video here years ago

22:17 where I was riding down here and there

22:20 was a

22:21 slide that was right over there and the

22:23 slide has been removed and I thought I'd

22:26 go back by and see if maybe they they

22:29 brought the slide back but it doesn't

22:32 look like they have City of Santa Ana

22:35 okay technically not Orange it's Santa

22:38 Ana if that guy's taking that down any

22:41 sweet slides of course there's no more

22:42 slides here probably my own

22:46 doing because shortly after I went down

22:49 the

22:50 slide I ended up that guy almost wrecked

22:53 where I went down the slide they closed

22:55 the slide off and they put barricades on

22:58 on it they probably thought to

23:00 themselves you know what probably not

23:01 the best place or not the best slide to

23:05 have because other idiots like this guy

23:08 me would wreck on it my bike landed over

23:12 here laid on the ground for a good

23:15 minute or two before regaining my breath

23:17 getting up I went over to those picnic

23:20 tables over there sat there for probably

23:22 a good 20

23:24 minutes before I regain my composure

23:26 enough to grab the camera and walk over

23:28 and showed the wreck bike but there were

23:30 two slides you can still see the

23:33 stanions right here from the slides and

23:35 right up here is where I went up to the

23:38 top and I rode my bike down the

23:41 slide tacoed the tire the taco bent when

23:45 it hit the ground right there and it

23:47 launched me that way so have some knee

23:50 problems on this knee the left knee

23:53 because of it thankfully I did not land

23:57 my head or didn't know CU it could have

24:00 ended badly I mean it did not end well

24:03 but it could have been a lot worse I had

24:06 some pretty bad road rash from launching

24:09 over

24:10 there but yeah this is where it happened

24:12 this is this is where the the slide was

24:15 I'll go to the walk up to the top and

24:16 show you how how tall it

24:19 is or how high up it is I don't know why

24:22 there was a slide of this steepness

24:23 Beyond me yeah remember taking the bike

24:25 up here going around this way way

24:29 getting to right about here lifting it

24:31 up over the rack that was there and

24:34 looking down and seeing how steep this

24:37 was and it's been a while since I've

24:40 even seen that clip or watched that

24:42 video but

24:49 basically in my mind I think I verbally

24:49 said it I'm about to do something

24:51 completely or about to do something

24:54 really ignorant and I did I went down

24:57 that thought I was going to go over the

24:59 side didn't go over the side hit the

25:03 ground at a immense

25:05 speed the tire hit the ground buckled

25:09 flipped me over the rest is history this

25:12 is this is the spot this is the slide

25:13 spot here in Santiago Park corner of

25:16 orange well on the orange Santa Ana City

25:20 Line not far from where I lived at the

25:22 orange circle and I had to drag my bent

25:24 broken bike back after I sat here for

25:28 for a while in complete pain it hurt now

25:32 obviously showing this is not going to

25:35 really make you understand how steep

25:37 this is

25:39 but it's pretty

25:54 steep there was two slides there was a

25:54 big slide here and there was a shorter

25:55 small slide right over there

26:06 should find out what they did with the

26:06 scrap metal of the slide that was there

26:08 see if I can get a piece of

26:14 it oh man memories they say you live and

26:14 learn you you do something you make a

26:16 mistake I have not tried to do anything

26:19 on that scale since then and anytime

26:23 something you know obviously I'm not

26:25 going to take a bike down a slide again

26:26 but anytime something like that presents

26:28 itself in my mind I go let let me just

26:30 step back from this situation and think

26:32 is that a good idea and I've made some

26:34 bad decisions since then but

26:36 yeah that was that definitely was a was

26:38 a little bit of a a little bit of a

26:41 learning experience right over there

26:43 there's the Orange California flag PW

26:51 and the reason I'm walking this way

26:59 this is the original Orange Circle

27:03 many years ago you see any old really

27:06 old photo of the orange circle with a

27:09 fountain this is that Fountain they

27:12 moved it over here across from the

27:15 orange Public

27:18 Library the reason I'm showing this I'm

27:20 going to show the new fountain that took

27:23 the place of this one that's in the

27:24 orange circle that was destroyed by a

27:25 driver that went through the circle and

27:28 it was under construction for a couple

27:29 years and now I have heard tals that it

27:32 is back open again I'm going to go check

27:35 it out and a circle right over there

27:37 technically it's called the Orange Plaza

27:39 but everyone that I know calls it the

27:40 orange circle so I call it the orange

27:42 circle it's weird not seeing Watson's

27:45 right here which was a place it was here

27:47 for many years they filmed that thing

27:48 you do in there and it was an old

27:50 Diner now it's a Mexican Kitchen seafood

27:54 and bar yeah they filmed a bunch of

27:55 stuff in there and outside there and on

27:57 the porch and everything yeah Watson's

27:59 was a staple down here but it's gone now

28:01 I always like to mention that right over

28:03 here at this Bank there used to be a

28:05 Starbucks now there's a building here

28:07 it's like they're getting ready to open

28:08 a new place called W the wall but inside

28:11 here you could get Starbucks which is an

28:13 interesting coincidence because across

28:15 the road also I can see the fountain

28:17 yeah the fountain is over there there's

28:19 another Starbucks over there so there

31:30 can look at and peruse around kind of

31:32 neat kind of looking back in time to a

31:35 simpler time if you will here at Orange

31:37 California at the Circle a lot less busy

31:40 back then a lot less traffic and I now

31:43 have my second piping High caffeinated

31:44 beverage of the day AKA coffee I've used

31:47 AKA twice I don't think I've ever hardly

31:49 ever even used that word but yeah you

31:51 can see now current day it's a lot more

31:54 traffic here at the plaza

32:25 roommate and myself we would come down

32:26 here and get 12 packs of I I don't even

32:28 drink soda anymore we get some soda pops

32:31 things like that some snacks down here

32:33 and now it is a a restaurant of some

32:37 sort but there's the old you know what's

32:40 interesting it doesn't say rods Liquors

32:41 it says Plaza beverages that's weird all

32:43 right I got the liquor parking there and

32:45 they have the plaza liquor sign over

32:48 there there used to be an ice machine

32:50 that was right on this wall in the other

32:52 side of this wall and evidently they

32:54 they kept it even though they don't have

32:56 it in the same spot they have it inside

32:58 now but you'd come up here pay a couple

33:00 bucks get some ice and it was kind of

33:02 the staple of Rod's Liquors Well Plaza

33:04 liquor what whatever it was called maybe

33:06 I'm making the mistake and it wasn't

33:07 called rods lickers but they still have

33:09 the ice machine the antique ice machine

33:11 is still here on site in the new

33:13 restaurant they kept the relic of the

33:15 past wedged inside this kind of makes me

33:18 happy kind of makes me happy to see

33:20 this they also had some neon and stuff

33:24 from rods even though the signage was a

33:26 little different

33:28 they had the neon signs that used to be

33:30 inside rods now it's the restaurant

33:32 obviously and I discovered that at the

33:36 reception desk inside they had these

33:39 t-shirts look at this little throwback

33:41 to the ice machine that's now moved from

33:44 the front entrance that you could see

33:45 from the road on that corner that I was

33:47 familiar with to the back so I got

33:50 little I got myself a little

33:52 souvenir little rods ice this will kind

33:54 of be something if I wear those who know

33:57 will know and no one else will get it

33:59 it's got the new establishment on the

34:02 back the name of the place here kitchen
