0:03 Tupelo, Mississippi.
0:03 Welcome everyone. Adam the Woo here. It
0:05 is a cool, crisp Mississippi morning.
0:09 That's right. I have crossed over
0:10 another state line and I am in the town,
0:14 the little teeny town that I was born
0:16 in. It's my second channel, Daily Vlog
0:18 channel. It's the Daily Woo.
0:21 And I'm not the only person who was born
0:23 here. A gentleman by the name of Elvis
0:27 Aaron Presley
0:30 also got his start in Tupelo.
0:33 This statue is a recreation of a photo
0:36 of when he returned to town to play a
0:38 concert.
0:38 September 26th, 1956.
0:42 The king of rock and roll stood right
0:44 there.
0:45 Love me tender. Love me true. All my
0:49 dreams fulfilled. Oh, Elvis, I love you.
0:54 Check out this rarity. Soda machines for
0:58 50 cents a can. What year is this? 1993.
1:01 You ever think you'd see the day where
1:03 you could buy a soda? Two for a dollar?
1:06 Never.
1:06 There's an arrow pointing to the right
1:08 saying Tupelo, the first TVA
1:11 city. There is a little general store
1:13 here in town by the name of Tupelo
1:16 Hardware Company. And right inside those
1:18 doors, a young Elvis Presley got his
1:21 first guitar.
1:22 The year was 1946, and his mother wanted
1:24 to buy him a bicycle, but once they got
1:26 here, Elvis decided he would rather have
1:29 a gun. They compromised. And the guitar
1:33 was the final purchase.
1:35 And what was Elvis's response to his
1:37 mom's gift? Oh, thank you. Oh, thank you
1:39 very much.
1:45 We are coming up on the cemetery here in
1:45 town.
1:46 Priceville Memorial
1:50 Gardens. This headstone is dated in the
1:53 mid 1800s.
1:56 But check out the grave itself. It is
1:58 above ground with bricks
2:03 and leaves
2:05 all over it. A lot of people do not
2:07 realize that Elvis had a twin brother.
2:10 And there is a lot of speculation and
2:12 debate on where the final resting place
2:15 of the child is. If
2:16 you go to Graceand in Memphis, there is
2:18 a memorial next to the grave of Elvis
2:21 and his parents, but his brother's body
2:24 is not buried there.
2:26 Right here next to his great aunt and
2:28 great uncle is the unmarked
2:32 gravestone.
2:32 The date was January 8th, 1935. And at
2:36 that time, the Presley family was so
2:38 poor, they could not afford a casket,
2:41 and they had to put the child in a shoe
2:43 box into the ground. When Elvis's mother
2:46 died, Elvis had her placed in a tomb in
2:48 Memphis. And then when Elvis died, he
2:50 was put in that same spot. But grave
2:53 robbers changed all that and they moved
2:55 the bodies to Graceand. And then when
2:57 Elvis's father passed away, he was put
3:00 at Graceand. But Elvis's brother is
3:03 still
3:04 right here in Tupelo.
3:05 And even though there is no official
3:07 reason for this, most say it is because
3:10 the body really cannot be removed from
3:12 the ground and transported at this
3:15 point. As a child and as an adult, Elvis
3:18 would return to the cemetery to pay his
3:19 respects to the brother. And it always
3:21 weighed heavy on his heart that his
3:23 brother lost his life and he was still
3:25 alive. There's a little hamburger joint
3:27 here in town by the name of Johnny's
3:29 Drive. He's shaking his hips.
3:33 He's shaking his hips like Satan wants
3:35 him to.
3:36 It's currently closed, but they have a
3:39 booth dedicated to the king himself. And
3:42 there's a photo just above where you can
3:46 sit and it has him eating there, eating
3:49 a cheeseburger
3:51 in that exact spot. Even though this is
3:53 my birth town, it has been 5 years since
3:56 I've been here. Use your Columbbo like
3:59 research skills and find the video I did
4:01 of some of the Elvis spots half a decade
4:04 ago. Here we have some placards to both
4:07 of the twins
4:10 and it happened right here in this
4:14 little teeny tiny house. A very modest
4:18 home for the infant that would become
4:21 the king of rock and roll. Family only
4:23 lived here 4 years before the house was
4:26 repossessed. This is a statue of what he
4:28 would have looked like at age 13 when
4:31 his family moved from Tupelo to Memphis.
4:33 Apparently, 13-year-old Elvis is just
4:35 about as tall as I am.
4:36 You're either about to headbutt him or
4:38 kiss him.
4:39 Let me decide.
4:40 This overlook of downtown and the church
4:43 where Elvis sang as a young boy was one
4:46 of his favorite spots.
4:47 And they have commemorated this spot by
4:50 erecting two statues. One of Elvis at
4:52 the peak of his stardom and one in his
4:55 youth with his very first guitar. Never
4:58 forget your roots. I think that's what
5:01 Elvis is trying to tell us. He has a
5:03 lion necklaceing
5:11 his torso.
5:11 That's the king right there. You know
5:13 it's a small community when they have
5:15 replaced these stop lights with stop
5:18 signs.
5:20 Still hanging from the sky though. And
5:23 check this out. Old movie theater. Got
5:27 to love it. Pure Americana at its
5:29 finest. And in the town square, the
5:31 focal point is this majestic building,
5:34 which I am assuming is the courthouse.
5:36 And in front of it is this monument
5:38 erected in 1908
5:41 by the Women's Christian Temperance
5:44 Union in commemoration of statewide
5:48 prohibition. At one point they felt it
5:51 necessary to decorate the bricks around
5:54 this tree and why they eventually got
5:56 rid of the tree. I'm I'm stumped. I
5:59 wasn't going to use that joke.
6:01 I insist. There's a few old neon signs
6:04 up and down the main drag.
6:21 Jacob has this relic of Florida history
6:22 in his van. It's the Orangebird from
6:25 Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom. And
6:27 when you crossed over the state line
6:29 into Florida, they would give you orange
6:31 juice in these. I never knew that. And
6:33 they have the old school looking
6:35 McDonald's. I think it's a newer
6:37 franchise building, but they took on the
6:40 old school style. That's pretty cool.
6:44 This is the North Mississippi
6:46 Medical Center. And on August 10th,
6:49 1974,
6:51 this guy right here was given birth to.
6:54 In one of those very rooms right up
6:57 there, I started my life. And in the 42
7:01 years on this planet, I've never
7:03 returned to this property to see where I
7:06 was born.
7:08 It's a pretty crazy feeling.
7:09 My dad tells the story that he was so
7:12 happy after he saw me. Later that
7:14 evening, he ate an entire large pizza to
7:18 celebrate. And I have continued that
7:20 tradition.
7:22 Once a week or so, I will consume
7:25 gargantuan amounts of pizza in honor of
7:28 me being born.
7:29 So my daughter was born. I just ate an
7:30 entire ham by myself.
7:32 So my dad ate a pizza. You ate a ham.
7:35 When I have a child, what should I eat?
7:40 What's the celebratory meal for Adam's
7:43 child? strength like 24 Mountain Dew's.
7:47 I like it.
7:48 No freaking way. A bonanza
7:52 still exists.
7:54 I thought those closed decades ago. Off
7:57 the side of the road, we've stumbled on
7:59 this graveyard.
8:01 The graves are so old. The headstones
8:03 are propped up. They've taken cinder
8:06 blocks, leaned them against it to keep
8:08 it from falling to the ground. The date
8:10 on this, 1852.
8:13 Here's another one. They didn't die on
8:16 the same day, but they died on the same
8:18 year. And both of the children are
8:21 buried in the spot. This one has
8:23 completely fallen over. You can see
8:25 where it was cracked from the base.
8:35 1862.
8:35 Whoa. And there is a lot of red ants.
8:45 A lot of these are in really bad shape.
8:45 Back at the birthplace, I picked up a
8:47 taking care of business keychain. I'm
8:49 pretty excited about this. And now we
8:52 have arrived at the Tupelo Automobile
8:56 Museum. This is a pretty fantastic
8:58 mailbox. It's like an old car. In 1911,
9:01 this vehicle, according to the sign, was
9:04 only $350. Isn't it fascinating to see
9:08 how automobiles have changed, how they
9:10 evolved since the start until current
9:13 day? There's even an entire section
9:15 dedicated to CocaCola, the old truck, a
9:18 Coca-Cola worker, a country store. She
9:22 had her order delivered directly to her
9:24 door. Not her house door, her car door.
9:27 And amidst the paraphernalia of CocaCola
9:30 persuasion, there is a metal tin
9:34 disgusting looking hamburger hanging on
9:38 the wall there.
9:38 Are you okay?
9:39 I'm sorry. The hamburger cracked me up.
9:41 You were saying it looks like a pile of
9:43 dung.
9:44 A pile of of material.
9:46 Whoa. Must be Bert Reynolds or
9:50 something. This is a 1946 milk truck.
9:55 I think I'd be pretty happy if I saw
9:56 that driving down the road delivering my
9:58 milk. It's very cool looking. This must
10:00 be something out of a fantasy story.
10:02 Cars cannot really swim in water like
10:06 that, can they? Wait a second. There's
10:09 one in front of me. They do exist.
10:12 This is a Camaro vet. There was only one
10:15 of them made ever in existence in the
10:18 year 1983.
10:20 This car belonged to Liberace. And
10:23 another fun fact is this was created by
10:26 George Barrister out of Hollywood,
10:29 California, who also made the Batmobile.
10:32 And if you look closely, kind of
10:34 resembles that car just a little bit.
10:36 Both of these vehicles belong to the
10:38 legendary BB King. This is one of those
10:41 rare occasions that you can find an
10:43 automobile by the Tucker Corporation.
10:48 The engine's in the back. The trunk is
10:51 in the front. And in 2012, a similar one
10:55 of these sold for $2.65
10:58 million.
11:00 Oh, look at this.
11:02 Thanks for letting me talk to you.
11:04 I You haven't said anything yet. You're
11:06 ending the conversation with a your
11:08 closing remark. What's up with that?
11:11 Thank you very much.
11:13 Well, you're welcome, but what are you
11:15 thanking me for?
11:20 I just want to look at your car.
11:20 Hi, this is Elvis Presley.
11:22 Yes, I know who you are. Can you please
11:24 move out of the way so I can get a good
11:26 shot of this vehicle?
11:27 This guy just met.
11:29 Yes, I heard you the first time.
11:30 I walked past this thing three times
11:33 before realizing the posters
11:36 spell out Elvis. D. It's tire. Tireman.
11:42 It's Tireman.
11:45 Hello, tire man. A 30 foot tall
11:49 gargantuan
11:50 person made out of rubber tires. It's
11:54 good to see you. Cows. All those cows
11:57 down there just grazing and having a
12:00 good day.
12:00 I was just thinking as I stare at this
12:02 road, this is a complete 180 degree
12:06 difference of what the roads in Los
12:08 Angeles look like right now.
12:12 What's up, buddy?
12:15 What's up? It's all right. It's all
12:18 right. Stopped off the side of the road
12:20 in Oxford, Mississippi. And whenever you
12:22 travel around, you always see the
12:24 world's largest things. World's largest
12:27 chair, world's largest ball of twine.
12:30 This place is known for the world's
12:32 largest cedar bucket. I'm not going to
12:34 argue with this fact because who would
12:39 say that this is not the world's largest
12:42 cedar bucket? It's huge.
12:44 I mean, I'm 6' three, but this thing's
12:47 got to be at least 7 feet tall.
12:49 You got to wonder what's inside this
12:51 thing.
13:00 There was actually a larger cedar bucket
13:00 over in Murphy'sboro, Tennessee, and
13:03 someone snuck in at night and burned it
13:06 down.
13:06 Who would want to harm a innocent
13:09 bucket? There seems to be basically what
13:12 looks like
13:14 a bunch of leftover tubs.
13:16 Bathtub graveyard.
13:18 There's like hundreds of them out here.
13:26 Ah, the water doesn't work.
13:33 You ready to go, Mina?
13:35 I guess I
13:36 was pretty comfortable in there, though.
13:42 Do you remember the song The Legend of
13:42 Billy Joe by Bobby Gentry? The
13:45 Talahhatchee Bridge. This is it right
13:47 here.
13:48 It crosses over the Talahhatchee River.
13:51 I believe the original bridge that was
13:52 here when the song was written was torn
13:54 down and replaced with this newer one.
13:57 Not really 100% how new it is, cuz this
14:00 does look kind of old. The song has been
14:02 subject to a lot of interpretation on
14:04 what the meaning behind the lyrics
14:07 really are. And I'm starting to think if
14:09 someone did jump off this bridge, the
14:12 height of it, they could probably
14:14 survive. Supposedly, when the song
14:16 gained all its popularity, they had to
14:18 put a sign up saying anyone that jumped
14:20 off for recreational purposes to swim in
14:22 the water down below would be fined
14:25 $100. That did not deter everyone
14:27 however because this is the bridge that
14:29 Billy Joe Mallister jumped off the hell
14:32 bridge
14:34 on Chuck Ridge.
14:37 The sign says Gurville
14:39 welcomes you. Some old fire trucks.
14:44 Here's a steer.
14:46 And look way off over there in the
14:48 field. It's a dinosaur. There's a face
14:50 in that tree. An old man with a beard
14:54 carved in the tree. some cardboard
14:55 cutouts of the pilgrims. He's just
14:58 hanging out next to the cabin. Can you
14:59 get a good shot of the dinosaur?
15:01 I think so. I can see him.
15:02 Oh, yeah. There he is.
15:05 Yeah. There's like a fullsize dinosaur
15:07 out there in the field.
15:09 It's massive.
15:10 And a lawn mower runs this train.
15:15 I don't know the last time it was used,
15:16 but looks pretty awesome.
15:17 I have to probably put this in my top 10
15:20 sunset category. I'm not taking a poll
15:23 or anything or keeping a list, but if I
15:26 had one, this one would certainly be in
15:28 it. Look at that. It's beautiful.
