Welcome everyone. I'm coming to you
0:02
today from Georgia, a very small little
0:04
town by the name of Americus. Right
0:07
behind me in the parking lot I am
0:09
sitting in is the Habitat for Humanity.
0:12
They have created a center that some
0:15
like to call, some websites like to call
0:18
a slum theme park. I don't really know
0:21
if it is a theme park, but it is themed.
0:25
And what is it themed around, you ask?
0:28
It's themed around the living conditions
0:30
of people in third world countries that
0:34
have it way less fortunate than we do.
0:37
Even when we consider ourselves poor, in
0:39
the grand scheme of things, if you're
0:40
watching a video on YouTube, you have
0:43
some sort of device which makes you rich
0:45
in comparison to a lot of people in
0:47
third world countries. So, leave it to
0:50
Habitat for Humanity who builds homes in
0:53
over 90 countries around the world. They
0:56
are the experts on living conditions of
0:59
other countries. So, let's take a look
1:02
inside their facility. Let's check it
1:04
out. Join me, shall you?
1:27
Sometimes I get a little wear when I
1:29
have to sleep in my van and I travel
1:30
around. But places like this really put
1:33
into perspective of how good we have it,
1:36
how good I have it, how blessed I truly
1:39
am. I'm really looking forward to seeing
1:41
what is behind these gates and behind
1:44
this facility, the world they have
1:46
created for us. I don't know what to
1:48
expect.
1:50
So, let's go check it out.
2:25
As you can see, they've actually
2:25
recreated out here a lot of the living
2:27
situations, but a lot of people in other
2:30
countries
2:58
a lot of people are being forced to deal
2:58
with on a daily basis.
4:40
One of the thoughts I have as I'm
4:41
walking around out here is a lot of this
4:44
looks like a lot of the videos I've done
4:46
in the past of abandoned places, places
4:48
that have been left to rot and no one is
4:51
living at them, completely empty and
4:53
abandoned. However, this is a recreation
4:56
of someone's home. Someone would
4:59
actually reside here. An adult would
5:01
sleep here, a child down there. You can
5:04
see the Mickey Mouse blanket and sheets.
5:07
This would be someone's entire living
5:10
home and doicile.
5:13
It's pretty mind-blowing when you think
5:14
of that and how blessed most of us are
5:18
to have something
5:20
a little bit better than this.
5:46
What you're looking at is a recreation.
5:46
However, in case you were thinking that
5:49
maybe this was not a reality, here's an
5:52
actual picture.
5:55
That's reality.
6:00
You can see the bricks here made out of
6:00
mud and clay. I'm guessing, of course,
6:03
in every community you have to have
6:05
businesses.
6:06
This would be like one of the local
6:08
grocery stands would look like. You see
6:10
the rice and beans and the fruit sign.
6:13
Of course, you can also get
6:14
strawberries.
6:44
Take a look at the classroom.
6:44
Students would sit there at that table,
6:47
learn how to write
6:53
based on those graphs and those charts,
6:54
paper pamphlets on the wall.
7:47
Just imagine if that was your bed,
7:47
having to climb that and just wedge
7:49
yourself in that little area right up
7:52
there.
8:04
The creaky roofs, the wind's blowing,
8:04
giving a little ambiance
8:19
very frail
8:19
wooden shell of a building.
8:37
Look at that bumblebee.
8:37
That big bumblebee.
8:39
I'm a bumblebee.
9:08
Now, we're going to actually venture out
9:08
of the recreation of the slum area and
9:11
into the area where Habitat for Humanity
9:14
has actually recreated homes that they
9:17
have actually built.
9:39
This is very very cool. They've given me
9:39
this passport book. So if you come out
9:41
here, you can get a passport global
9:44
village book also and you can actually
9:46
stamp your passport.
10:44
We are now venturing into Africa and the
10:44
Middle East.
11:03
That must be a mosquito net cuz the
11:03
mosquitoes are so bad that you probably
11:05
wouldn't be able to get a good night's
11:07
sleep without that draped over you.
11:42
It's pretty accurate compared to the
11:42
photo the actual photo
11:45
looks a lot like the one they've
11:46
recreated here.
12:12
As far as I can tell, this is what a
12:12
schoolhouse in Africa would look like.
12:15
Outside, you got the benches.
12:48
Do you know what the answer is. What is
12:48
the population of Ghana?
12:53
I'm asking you, do you know?
12:56
I've got to admit, this place is a lot
12:58
more fantastic than I thought it would
13:00
have been.
14:42
I keep waiting to go in one of these
14:42
rooms and see someone laying on the bed.
14:45
Ah, actually
14:49
pretty nice.
14:51
Pretty nice.
14:54
I can take a little nap right now.
14:57
See you guys.
15:00
See you guys later.
15:02
I'm going to take a little snoozy.
15:06
40 wakes.
15:22
Ow. I just hit my head on that.
15:22
I just cracked my head on that. That's
15:24
how tall I am or how short that door is.
15:28
Ah, my skull.
16:44
This one actually happens to be up on
16:44
stilts. Probably because of the water
16:46
level in that country. You can see the
16:49
flag decorating the walls
16:52
and the living conditions.
16:55
Very cool. Very cool that they did this.
16:57
This is the last house out here. A
17:01
recreation of what they have done in
17:03
multiple countries themed. The slums are
17:06
themed and what they have helped create.
17:09
Habitat for Humanity has helped create.
17:13
Awesome.
17:26
Oh, there you go. Up on stilts. Look at
17:26
that.
17:29
It's now time for my very last stamp in
17:31
my passport. Ready?
17:41
Every country has been achieved out
17:41
here. There you have it, everyone. and
17:43
thanks for joining me out here at
17:44
Habitat for Humanities Global Village in
17:47
Americas, Georgia. If you're ever in
17:49
this area, stop in, go over to the
17:51
welcome center, donate a few dollars. I
17:54
think that they're asking for a $4 or $5
17:56
donation, donate the five bucks, walk
17:59
through. You can definitely get some
18:00
good picture opportunities. But even
18:02
more exciting than that and more
18:04
heartfelt
18:06
than that is the fact that you can see
18:08
how other people other than us live and
18:11
what Habitat for Humanity is doing for
18:14
them and helping out, helping out
18:16
society, putting good back into the
18:18
world. Thanks for watching and I'll see
18:20
you guys in the next video. Have a great
18:22
day. Bye.
18:31
Oh man, there's one missing.
18:31
Someone has stolen the stamp from the
18:33
Congo.
18:35
What is my passport going to do next?
18:38
Oh, wait. They've already pre-stamped it
18:41
at the office. Awesome.
