0:02 today's adventure
0:02 brings me
0:05 to Astoria Oregon as the recording of
0:09 this Wednesday February 8th
0:12 2023 and as I'm sure as noted in the
0:16 excitement of my voice
0:19 I am really happy to be here I feel like
0:22 this is a culmination
0:24 throughout the course of my life why has
0:27 it taken me so long to set foot on the
0:31 stomping grounds the goondocks The
0:34 Goonies
0:35 the 1985 classic film Steven Spielberg
0:39 story
0:41 Richard Donner who also directed
0:43 Superman one of my favorites
0:46 directed it Chris Columbus
0:49 noted for many other films
0:52 wrote the screenplay
0:54 I have made it welcome everyone
0:58 I am the woo here wearing an appropriate
1:05 t-shirt nice crisp cool I am not going
1:09 to reinvent the wheel on this one I am
1:11 not going to do anything that has not
1:14 been done at least a dozen or more times
1:16 that car could probably use some brakes
1:19 I am just going to pay an homage
1:22 to one of the greatest 80s films 1985
1:26 another movie that's my favorite
1:28 came out at 85 Back to the Future
1:32 I love the era of the 80s
1:34 and I am going to go around to the the
1:36 filming locations
1:38 from The Goonies here in Astoria Oregon
1:42 and just show my perspective and update
1:44 a 2023 update on the town even though
1:47 I've never been here before others have
1:51 I'm gonna put my own little spin on it
1:53 join me
1:54 I am so happy I have I am really in a
1:57 good mood to be here
2:03 I feel like some of these spots I'm not
2:03 even gonna have to do a heck of a lot of
2:05 research on
2:06 I can just find on my own accord driving
2:09 around town in fact I was passing right
2:11 by this that said this really looks
2:13 familiar
2:15 because this is the spot where Rosalita
2:16 was trying to cross the road during the
2:18 chase scene at the beginning it's also a
2:20 coffee shop if they're open I'm gonna
2:22 get myself a piping hot caffeinated
2:23 beverage here at Astoria coffee company
2:25 and roasters we also have a little
2:28 vending machine you can purchase the
2:30 Astoria coffee
2:35 well they may not even be open
2:35 maybe they are
2:38 drink coffee pet dogs and they are in
2:41 fact open and they are going to make a
2:44 fresh fresh cup of coffee for me here
2:47 Astoria coffee company with the famous
2:50 bridge over there and it looks like they
2:52 even embrace the
2:54 Goonies in here as well of course you
2:56 know goonies never say dog stepped
2:59 outside now looking at one-eyed Willie
3:01 who's going over the treasure map and
3:02 everything
3:04 it has some gold down there and jewels
3:08 the balloons
3:11 this would have been the road the
3:12 crosswalk here at Leif Erickson Drive In
3:14 37. a Rosalita with her umbrella tried
3:18 to go across the road and I can
3:19 definitely see
3:22 it was very difficult and even to this
3:23 day it's very very busy it's not even a
3:25 it's not a police tank with a Jeep or
3:27 anything like that but kind of get the
3:29 same Vibe as her trying to cross the
3:32 road over here
3:34 all right it's opened up for me now I
3:35 can go over
3:36 give them time to make the coffee inside
3:38 I may have been the first customer of
3:40 the day
3:46 or maybe the it's so busy
3:46 that they have to make more
3:48 take a look right there
3:50 the building is painted a different
3:52 color
3:53 than it was see if I can pull up what it
3:55 looked like
3:56 back in the mid 80s back then it was
3:59 painted blue but it still has the same
4:01 like little overhang there the little
4:03 grates on the side
4:04 incline of the Hill
4:16 opening credit sequence very dramatic
4:16 very very dramatic
4:18 this is really awesome
4:20 good first spot and I might get a little
4:22 caffeine to get the day going
4:43 coffee was prepared freshly brewed
4:43 talking to the lady inside let me Chase
4:45 this person
4:47 oh yeah
4:49 that's good I probably should have put a
4:51 little tiny bit more cream and sugar in
4:53 it they're pretty good it was my own the
4:55 coffee's good
4:57 I was talking to the lady inside here
4:59 that was the place where it works here
5:00 she was saying this is built in the late
5:02 1800s
5:04 like 18.95 give or take there's a couple
5:07 photos in there from back in the day and
5:10 they really do embrace the filth the
5:12 history of the film and obviously
5:13 merchandise to have some assorted items
5:16 postcards coffee mugs things like that
5:18 inside there as well I'm glad I stopped
5:21 off here get a little get caffeinated
5:32 continued on about another mile or so up
5:32 into this neighborhood very hilly around
5:35 here
5:36 a lot of elevation
5:38 going up the sides of hills on Old homes
5:42 just a really cool vibe
5:45 through here
5:50 this house over here still looks the
5:50 same as you can see out of the kitchen
5:51 window
5:53 of mouth's house
5:56 thank you
6:03 the front of the home also was shown one
6:03 other time a little bit later
6:05 but in the kind of the opening sequence
6:07 when
6:08 Chase is happening
6:10 he's looking out the window and
6:16 sees the cars going this way thinks it's
6:16 the TV okay even this home has also been
6:18 repainted have the plumber out front Mad
6:20 Jack's plumber
6:22 the vehicle is parked in the front of
6:24 the driveway the garage door was opened
6:26 only shown for a brief moment but
6:28 definitely etched
6:30 etched in my head and I'm sure others
6:32 as well with the plumbing vehicle right
6:35 over here even the same brick
6:38 brick wall over there you can even kind
6:40 of match up some of the different Hues
6:42 and coloration on the bricks as the
6:44 chase kind of progressor you see the
6:45 bricks over there as the chase
6:46 progresses
6:48 up the side of the Hill here
6:54 obviously they were filming in the road
6:54 but the plumbing vehicle was right here
6:56 and there's those bricks over in the
6:57 side
6:58 this is what the front of the house
6:59 looks like
7:01 I guess that would be the kitchen window
7:03 probably right there you're looking out
7:05 of
7:06 yeah most likely that's probably the
7:08 kitchen window something synonymous with
7:09 80s films
7:11 a lot of Corey Feldman
7:13 back in that era
7:15 it was hitting the top of the TV
7:16 thinking what the heck is going on why
7:18 are there Sirens still coming out of the
7:20 television set but in reality
7:21 it was down this road directly that way
7:24 and it all lines up the window that's
7:26 directly behind my head is the window
7:29 that the camera was facing out of really
7:31 good views of the water from up here
7:34 again
7:35 very hilly oh here's some church bells
7:37 down there too
7:46 now when I watch this in the film
7:46 I never realized how steep
7:49 this incline is when they're riding
7:51 their bikes down the side of the Hill
7:52 kind of Reminisce that era there's a lot
7:54 of bike riding going on et's another one
7:57 this is the flabel House Museum
8:04 flagpole's still over there and
8:04 everything they were just coming they
8:05 were coming down here very immense speed
8:08 down this very step probably doesn't
8:09 really show on camera how steep this
8:12 hill is when they turn this corner right
8:14 here speeding along at all of them
8:17 just head right down that way at a very
8:19 quick speed
8:24 beautiful building give a little
8:25 perspective here is part of that scene
8:28 there
8:29 heading down the hill very quickly on
8:30 their bicycles turning that corner
8:32 luckily the ground wasn't too wet they
8:34 could have slipped and sled down into
8:35 the gutter I'm not sure if they use this
8:37 flagpole anymore
8:39 everything looks the same through here
8:40 including the steps and this
8:43 metal
8:45 metal railing here
8:56 and it's not too far from here back just
8:56 down the hill a couple blocks
8:58 where chunk is eating the food and he
8:59 gets to drink it smooshes up against the
9:01 side of the window I think it's down on
9:03 that corner in fact I could even
9:04 probably even see it from here all right
9:06 scratch that
9:07 I'm gonna still walk down there it's
9:09 down there just a bit but as I'm walking
9:11 past this Astoria
9:14 brand Columbia River Salmon trash can
9:16 look at this look what I just
9:19 this is the
9:21 is the jailbreak scene right here this
9:24 is right next to this it's all
9:27 it's all in the same area
9:30 look at this
9:31 the whole opening sequence the fratellis
9:35 you know the jailbreak happens right
9:36 here got the fire all along here they
9:39 have removed the little concrete pylons
9:41 there was like a like a U-shaped
9:43 concrete pylon
9:45 right around here that he's like putting
9:47 the gasoline on and all that does a
9:49 hysterical laugh
10:01 no way
10:01 there's a Jeep right here
10:05 you gotta be kidding me theming unpoint
10:13 oh my gosh I was not expecting them to
10:13 have the Jeep out front
10:15 that's great
10:19 all right here's another little
10:19 historical marker
10:21 this historic classic County Jail
10:24 features in the opening jailbreak scene
10:25 police pursuit follows wins past many
10:28 familiar sites and neighborhoods in
10:30 Astoria and Cannon Beach there's a
10:32 working jail up until 1976.
10:40 this is pretty dang awesome I'm not
10:40 gonna lie it's just like kind of all
10:42 flashing back to me now all the times
10:44 I've seen it
10:45 looks like this building has been
10:47 repainted as well it was more like a
10:48 beige
10:49 a beige color
10:51 1085
10:53 as shown here he's got the gasoline can
11:01 jailbreak not only were those little
11:01 concrete pylons I like the
11:03 Square in the front there the fire was
11:05 on looks like there used to be a power
11:07 pole over to the side that's now gone
11:09 there's one angle around the back too
11:11 and the chase goes around back I'll show
11:13 that oh yeah there was like a power pole
11:16 here now the power Pole's over there but
11:18 it was like kind of where that
11:20 marker is now
11:22 and I believe they turn up this street
11:24 so they turn up first or no seventh
11:28 corner of Dwayne Street and seventh up
11:31 this way leaving that cloud of smoke in
11:34 the distance
11:35 turning right up this hill really glad
11:37 they have the recreation of the vehicle
11:38 there the getaway vehicle and after
11:40 standing here you really kind of get the
11:42 layout of the land a little differently
11:44 see some things you don't see obviously
11:46 see you don't really realize how steep
11:48 these roads are until you're standing
11:51 here again it probably doesn't even show
11:52 up on my camera
11:54 kind of how steep that is he's like that
11:56 car is giving it the gas just to get up
11:58 the hill
11:59 this is an active film Museum also I'm
12:02 gonna go inside ORV four-wheel drive
12:07 bullet holes the size of matzo balls
12:15 those line forms over there
12:15 but there's no line so I'm just gonna
12:17 head in they're open
12:19 look at this it's the same
12:21 same box I remember bars being on these
12:23 windows another reference to 85. when
12:26 you step inside they have quite have a
12:28 few different items that were in the
12:30 movie itself there's this little thing
12:33 it says the making of the Goonies
12:42 but then also this David statue which
12:42 was the one that wasn't broken when like
12:46 chunk like drops it off the table
12:49 I think evidently that was screen used
12:51 and then there's also I don't think
12:53 these are screen user just reproductions
12:55 of the key and the Lou Gehrig card
12:59 the Chester
13:01 Copper Pot had also the Astoria Library
13:04 item over there and then when you kind
13:06 of walk into there's a lot of different
13:08 cutouts of the characters from Goonies
13:12 as well as the jail cell this is where
13:14 they film the jail cell scenes and the
13:16 jailbreak and all that almost exactly
13:18 the same they would have some little
13:19 Recreations of the signage that he had
13:21 around his neck and
13:23 things like that in the cell itself as
13:24 well as another cell that has a bunch of
13:27 different artifacts
13:29 in here as well really well done kind of
13:32 a kind of a neat little setup that they
13:33 embrace it
13:35 on this level
13:36 because not a lot of places do but
13:38 you're in a story they really do Embrace
13:39 The Goonies fully and embrace it
13:43 and it's a whole it's a whole film
13:45 Museum in here as well talking about
13:46 some of the other stuff that was filmed
13:48 in the story over the years over the
13:49 decades even since the Goonies
13:54 and I'm glad it was open I didn't even
13:54 check beforehand to see what the hours
13:56 were but it's open it was six dollars to
13:59 get in
14:00 and look at all this stuff
14:10 it's like I'm living I'm like I'm living
14:10 out
14:12 I'm living out the the movie Itself by
14:14 being in here oh goodness what are those
14:33 definitely we're stopping inside there
14:33 I'll be the recreation of
14:35 the Jeep out front is pretty awesome
14:37 also
14:38 I also had a lot of really good
14:40 merchandise in there I bought a couple
14:41 things I bought a sticker and a postcard
14:43 but they have a vast majority of
14:46 of items in there like a little kind of
14:49 side room
14:50 but they are really embracing the film
14:53 completely a lot of t-shirts and things
14:55 like that
14:56 inside there as well you know little
14:58 knickknacks and whatnot but what I ended
15:01 up was got a really fascinated buy
15:02 because I'm gonna go up to the house at
15:03 some point here's a great postcard
15:06 that I purchased of Richard Donner and
15:10 Steven Spielberg up at The Goonies house
15:12 again correlation to where everything is
15:15 you know just a lot of this stuff is all
15:17 in the close proximity
15:19 including the jail
15:20 including where they were riding down
15:22 the hill on the bike
15:23 and then I'm going to go down to the
15:25 bottom of the hill down there to where
15:27 more of the chase scene took place like
15:29 a block away
15:30 this bowling alley
15:37 but imagine the window probably still
15:37 facing the same direction
15:42 the lower
15:42 Columbia Bowl
15:45 with some nice little murals here on the
15:46 side as well this horse some boat a
15:49 fisherman out there for us on the beach
15:51 we've got the iconic Bridge it's here in
15:56 town
15:57 looks pretty much the same here on the
15:59 corner of Marine Drive and eighth street
16:02 there's the window
16:05 there's the window right there
16:07 oh my gosh no way
16:12 oh yes this is the freaking window
16:16 unbelievable
16:28 that is so good
16:28 what if I could go inside
16:31 stepping into this place is like
16:33 stepping back in time it's like you're
16:35 like being transported
16:37 into the 80s just with the carpeting
16:39 when you walk in and then going in and
16:42 looking at the Retro Lanes here from the
16:44 bowling alley
16:45 I mean this is this isn't even something
16:47 from this decade this is definitely a
16:49 throwback and I love it
16:51 and they really it's also very
16:52 interesting how nice everyone has been
16:54 and embracing the movie itself you know
16:58 if you're a tourist and you're here
16:59 everyone really does it they really do
17:01 embrace it here
17:04 the whole room kind of devoted to some
17:05 of the stuff they even have some like
17:07 string string grabs and stuff from the
17:09 film you can see exactly the angle and
17:12 everything without having to do your own
17:14 research you can just show up and they
17:16 have it all lotted out for you here at
17:17 the at the Lower Columbia Bowl
17:20 even a little map from showing places
17:23 people from different areas all over the
17:25 country and all over the world who have
17:26 come here to visit as well
17:29 and a little closer view of the the
17:31 Pepsi and the slushie that was in there
17:32 and then a slice of pizza
17:34 okay gosh what what are the best
17:36 characters I mean the thing that's great
17:37 about the movie is the casting
17:39 but I think Chuck might be my favorite
17:40 data's good too
17:42 I don't know they're all good sloth's
17:44 good
17:44 it's just a great movie all around it's
17:46 just classic quintessential 80s
17:49 that whole era nothing nothing better
17:51 than that a window's still here
18:04 red dish in there
18:04 that's where it all happened right there
18:06 got it all up on the on the edge a lot
18:10 of things you'll see around here are
18:11 these logging trucks
18:13 I don't want to show some other stuff
18:14 maybe not in the movie just to get the
18:15 vibe of this place like this whole ghost
18:18 sign a story A Sign Company here and
18:20 even something else written on the side
18:21 of this going over this bridge now got
18:24 to go about a half hour outside of town
18:33 I will go back to Astoria though at the
18:33 end
18:39 the final location will be the house
18:39 looking forward to that but I got to go
18:41 out to the beach first on a half hour
18:43 commute
19:01 quite the scenic drive up to the top of
19:01 this little overlook
19:07 amazing this what I am looking at right
19:07 now is absolutely
19:09 incredible oh my gosh
19:12 okay let me show you this
19:36 it's real
19:36 that is so dang cool
19:42 the
19:42 Rippling waves there crushing against
19:44 the rocks
19:46 amazing even has a little identification
19:49 here as well this park features
19:51 prominently The Goonies going along the
19:53 location of the story in Cannon Beach
19:56 the Fratelli's High family Hideout the
19:58 lighthouse Lounge was temporarily
19:59 constructed at e Cola Point Mikey uses
20:03 the rocky Coastline here to gain Clues
20:06 to the location
20:07 of One-Eyed Willie's treasure and I
20:10 believe
20:11 the lighthouse Hideout was down here
20:14 although you look online and most people
20:18 assume in state reiterate what others
20:21 have said that the lighthouse was there
20:25 which I don't believe it was there's a
20:27 it's a dog running by catching a ball
20:29 when they come up over the top of the
20:31 peak that kind of iconic view of them
20:34 pulling their bikes up and you can see
20:36 those rocks off in the distance
20:38 they run right by here over to The
20:41 Hideout where the lighthouse was and you
20:43 can even see when they run by you can
20:46 even see the landscape of these trees
20:48 obviously it's grown up a lot if you see
20:50 this little berm this little little Hill
20:53 this little mountain right there
20:56 so they run past that
20:58 now obviously the interwebs and a lot of
21:01 people have said that that is where the
21:03 lighthouse was not true and when you're
21:05 standing here you really can match it up
21:07 that it doesn't is not factual
21:11 they run right by here there's like a
21:12 pile of wood or something set dressing
21:15 over this concrete and then they walk
21:19 over here where the lighthouse and The
21:21 Hideout
21:22 was
21:23 notice the landscape there so that new
21:26 building
21:27 that everyone just assumes is where the
21:29 lighthouse used to be notice a little
21:31 berm there the little Mount the little
21:32 Mound they run past that and over to the
21:36 section where it was and what you're
21:38 standing here you really can tell you
21:40 really you really understand what you're
21:42 standing here it makes more sense a
21:43 couple years ago my friend Justin
21:44 scarred was out here and he noticed that
21:48 they were they had put set dressing over
21:50 this and was watching his video I kind
21:53 of thought I don't know like everything
21:54 everyone says that it was over there but
21:56 now that I am here in person and looking
21:58 at it it really does make a lot of sense
22:00 that it was not down there now granted
22:03 they did pull their bikes up over here
22:05 and kind of jogged across they were
22:08 counting the steps over to The Hideout
22:10 and where the lighthouse was on the back
22:13 side of the
22:15 the spot which was down here
22:18 but it makes sense because there's still
22:19 the little areas there and in order to
22:21 cover
22:22 the concrete they put like chunks of no
22:26 pun intended they put
22:28 you know metal and pieces of wood and
22:30 whatnot set dressing over the top of
22:32 those as they kind of came across so the
22:35 lighthouse would have been like right in
22:36 here in this in this area the lighthouse
22:37 and the little building in fact to
22:39 confirm it any more even more
22:41 they ran past that one area and they
22:44 passed this rock and they continued off
22:46 to the right towards where the
22:47 lighthouse was so this proves it even
22:49 more with that rock there shown off in
22:52 the distance right there
22:57 they would have continued taking their
22:58 steps that way
23:00 passing that
23:02 heading in from that direction
23:06 gotta wonder if there's any foundation
23:08 left of any of that
23:14 is built from what I've read it was
23:14 built specifically for the movie
23:16 I've been torn down directly after it
23:18 almost looks like it was an abandoned
23:20 spot
23:22 but from everything I was seeing
23:24 was built specifically for the film
23:27 right over here in this corner
23:32 can't go any farther than this because
23:32 it would look at the beach it is an
23:34 active Landslide they have it all kind
23:36 of roped off
23:38 I just love the visuals of this uh
23:41 man that is so awesome
23:44 you just picture them pulling their
23:46 bikes up over the edge there
23:48 I mean it could have been up there could
23:49 have been up here I didn't really
23:50 matched that up completely but I know
23:52 it's in this general area
24:10 quintessential
24:10 coonies location and directly behind me
24:13 is the tree they walk past
24:14 when they were counting the steps off to
24:16 The Hideout
24:17 pretty glad the tree well parts of the
24:19 tree are still right there too where
24:22 they pull their bikes up they leave
24:23 their bikes they start walking up the
24:25 side of the hill and quite an incline
24:28 where The Hideout was so you got the
24:31 tree over here which is you know seen
24:35 better days it's falling apart but it's
24:36 the same Tree starts off with kind of a
24:39 crane angle goes down shows the hillside
24:42 shows The Hideout over there and the
24:46 lighthouse the abandoned Lighthouse that
24:48 was behind it
24:50 but until I'm standing here I never
24:52 realized so they're kind of hoofing it
24:54 through here taking the steps they go up
24:56 the hill and that is quite the incline
25:00 you can even see part of the tree has
25:02 fallen off broken off screen used tree
25:10 over there it's like broken off and it's
25:10 just over there dangling in the other
25:13 pieces of the branch very unique tree
25:16 when you're watching that scene it's
25:18 unmistakable
25:19 this is the only one that looks like
25:21 this out here in this area so this has
25:24 to be it
25:25 looks like someone has trodden down
25:27 there trying to recreate they're one of
25:30 The Goonies going past that and going up
25:33 to the side of the Hill the same incline
25:35 and everything
25:37 definitely 100 percent
25:40 not right there
25:43 so that's just that let's just debunk
25:45 that
25:47 that's not where it was
25:51 was up there on the side
25:53 of that Hill really is incredible up
25:55 here quite the drive up and down like
25:59 the roads look just like they did you
26:01 could really picture
26:02 him flying off the side of the Hill
26:05 the little girl's bike with the training
26:07 wheels come flying off
26:15 right up in this area I will admit I
26:15 don't know exactly where that was but
26:17 this all looks
26:18 all too familiar through here
26:25 just a scenic drive up here take away
26:25 the filming locations just driving up
26:28 here on its own is quite the vibe
26:30 beautiful through here
27:00 made it down to Beachside now
27:00 where this gentleman says walk over to
27:03 the shore
27:05 so I'm going to
27:07 thought about maybe even driving a
27:08 rental down here but I don't know if he
27:10 could drive on this beach
27:12 however
27:13 this is where
27:18 well you know what I have to get up here
27:18 and see I think this is one of the spots
27:20 too where they drive the car in here at
27:22 the beginning and go into the race
27:24 that's on the beach oh yeah no motorized
27:26 vehicles
27:27 Beyond this point so good thing I found
27:28 a parking spot
27:33 man look how
27:39 it's so awesome Yep this is the spot
27:41 they drive right past the sea wall and
27:43 onto the beach back at restaurant
27:46 is still behind them there where they
27:47 kind of pull in
27:49 kind of show where they're driving in
27:52 this would have been the view as they go
27:53 in
27:54 peel off onto out off the concrete onto
27:58 the beach itself
28:00 this would be that view I just showed
28:01 there's the restaurant behind them there
28:03 when they go in interesting fact the sea
28:06 wall was built in 1932 or maybe 39 39.
28:11 built after a storm back in January of
28:15 1939. they stopped right there fratellis
28:19 Mama pulls up pulls up here stops
28:22 trusted your old mother boys
28:24 peels off well it keeps using the word
28:27 peel off it was saying it's drives off
28:29 into quite the congregation of vehicles
28:31 and people right here along the shore an
28:35 easy getaway Smooth Move
28:38 my mama also the same lady from Throw
28:41 Mama From the train
28:42 to love that movie too and they drive
28:44 off that way
28:46 escaped
29:16 they're so iconic
29:16 just this View
29:18 everyone's got their dogs out here
29:21 and just for a little correlation I was
29:23 up there looking down
29:26 at The Hideout up there
29:30 all right I'm gonna head back into
29:30 Astoria now
29:40 I will say I saved the best for last but
29:40 okay that Bird's flying off
29:45 back to Astoria I'm gonna follow you
29:45 bird made it back over to Astoria now
29:48 and I am on the Block
29:51 just behind me and up the hill
29:54 where the Monumental historic house is
29:57 The Goonies house
29:59 now I've heard a lot of rumors
30:02 well just base over the past couple
30:04 decades of how the residents around here
30:06 really
30:08 don't really embrace it but I'm seeing
30:09 right over here it says Goonies
30:11 on the side of this one this is not the
30:13 Goonies house
30:14 but evidently some
30:17 in this area
30:18 don't mind it so much
30:21 and there are certain parking signs so I
30:23 parked on the other side of the street
30:24 but I'm not allowed to park on this side
30:26 of the street
30:27 so there's no parking there and there's
30:28 a sign up here
30:30 that says you cannot drive up the hill
30:33 so I'm going to park at the bottom of
30:35 the hill and I can guarantee I'm not the
30:37 first that has walked up this incline
30:39 wearing this type of shirt
30:42 it is guaranteed
30:44 that is the case
30:50 says open for residents and deliveries
30:52 only no Outlet
30:55 that's kind of interesting so you got a
30:56 house here
30:58 and then you got another house beside it
31:00 those three houses side by side by side
31:02 well actually that's the third house
31:04 then there's another house here
31:07 and then there would be
31:09 The Goonies house you could actually
31:11 hear a bunch of seals
31:13 down there they sound like dogs barking
31:15 and in fact they're seals
31:22 this view is going to be amazing I'm
31:22 starting to get like
31:23 feels right now
31:31 in the last week or two there's been
31:31 some newsworthy events
31:33 this house here put a banner up that
31:35 said Goonies not welcome
31:39 this house here
31:41 which was screen used in the movie has
31:43 been repainted and fixed up a little bit
31:45 has been repurchased the former owner
31:48 did not really care for those who were
31:51 into the movie coming up on the property
31:53 but the new owner fully Embraces it and
31:57 has even been promoting
31:58 The Goonies are welcome here
32:02 however keep off the wall and out of the
32:05 garden area it is a little bit of a
32:07 slight incline a slight hike
32:10 up the top of this hill I can see why
32:12 they chose this
32:13 because look at this view it's like
32:16 breathtaking
32:24 hey you guys
32:24 Goonies welcome
32:29 amazing
32:29 I do not want you going past the fence
32:33 had a little donation slot there
32:42 I'm kind of curious it says private
32:42 property Beyond here so I guess you
32:44 can't go past here
32:45 or maybe that means beyond the fence
32:47 tough to tell this is not the original
32:49 fence
32:50 that was in there in fact there was a
32:52 Contraption I am going to say on this
32:55 on this side of the line
33:01 but there's the window right up there
33:01 and here's data's house
33:03 where he went across and went through
33:05 the screen door
33:07 was it a screen window
33:09 he went through the screen it was over
33:11 there was at the door or the window gosh
33:14 now I had to like
33:16 I can't remember which one it was either
33:17 way Vegas house was over here he went
33:19 across
33:20 busted through there they did stand up
33:23 on the edge in fact Mikey was like right
33:25 being very angry at the the guys who
33:28 were going to turn this into a golf
33:29 course which I don't know why they would
33:30 try this in a golf course this is like a
33:32 breathtaking residential View
33:34 looking down here now this place has
33:36 private property pass to this gate what
33:38 was Davis
33:45 and I could definitely see why the
33:45 neighbors probably would not enjoy
33:46 people walking up this hill but the new
33:48 owner I have to say
33:51 really really awesome that he is
33:55 you know he's a big fan of the film and
33:57 bought it because he grew up with it and
33:59 he wants others to to be able to come up
34:01 here and see this
34:06 it's kind of interesting too in the
34:06 movie and bran comes out the side gets
34:09 Mikey and kind of drags them along and
34:11 gets them a hugs this is going to get
34:13 doesn't want to get sick sick out on the
34:15 porch drags him that way I thought there
34:17 was a door over here but maybe the door
34:20 has been remodeled possibly also forgot
34:23 something in my car that I purchased
34:25 earlier that I need
34:27 up here so I'm gonna go walk back down
34:29 to the car this is when they're riding
34:30 their bikes down here in fact they let
34:32 the air out of
34:34 out of his bike at the top
34:37 I think there were some Vehicles parked
34:38 up here
34:39 and he ended up going over here to the
34:41 neighbor's house and got the little
34:42 girl's bike and then rode it in with the
34:45 training wheels I'll go back to my
34:46 rental car I picked up a little item
34:49 that I need to consume and snack on at
34:51 the house
34:57 they've taken all the banners down there
34:57 this house had to put a banner up and
34:59 this house put a banner up
35:01 this Banner's still up though now this
35:03 was just last week this house on the far
35:05 end two houses down
35:07 from The Goonies house put up Goonies
35:09 not welcome on a banner and then the one
35:12 very right next door but this sign up
35:15 facing over there so this would be right
35:17 next to where I'm standing
35:19 pointing at the neighbors evidently
35:21 there's a little tension here in the
35:23 neighborhood that may have subsided
35:26 so that was hanging there and I don't
35:28 know if they just came to peace with it
35:30 but they have removed the banners the
35:32 only Banner remaining is that the actual
35:34 house itself
35:36 you know this has been something I've
35:38 wanted to visit for a very very long
35:40 time
35:42 but I just didn't for so long because
35:44 the previous owners were really adamant
35:47 about no one showing up here sometimes
35:50 you'll get filming location places like
35:53 just becomes known in the community in a
35:57 filming location
35:58 aficionados if you will just don't go
36:01 there and this was one of the ones where
36:02 it was blatantly
36:04 told to everyone do not come here that
36:08 has been reversed
36:10 and the rumors are true you can come
36:12 here it is everyone's welcome
36:16 as stated by the banner up top and that
36:18 postcard I picked up at the Oregon film
36:20 Museum
36:21 it's a jail scene
36:23 of Donner and Spielberg
36:26 standing right here
36:32 and this house was also in the news just
36:32 a couple days ago first the banner
36:34 dispute up here
36:35 like last week but then two or three
36:37 days ago a guy did not heed
36:40 the warning not to walk up there and he
36:42 walked up here and he put a fish
36:45 on the porch
36:47 and then went out to sea I think he got
36:49 went out I don't know what happened but
36:50 he left here don't even know if he knew
36:53 this was the screen in his house
36:54 but because there's cameras there's
36:56 cameras everywhere here
36:58 and they did film a lot of the movie
37:00 Inside here Interiors as well obviously
37:03 the attic scene was a set
37:05 but the attic door is still in there the
37:08 living room here
37:10 the kitchen was used and one of the
37:13 bedrooms around the corner that way they
37:15 built
37:16 a makeshift stairway
37:18 to get to the top four there's another
37:20 stairway but they built a more
37:22 decorative stairwell they come running
37:24 up and down
37:25 I guess Donner Spielberg felt that
37:27 border looked a little bit better but
37:28 they use a lot of the Interiors
37:30 including the porch and everything in
37:32 here especially
37:33 the side door which that's would be the
37:35 front door and of course chunk doing the
37:37 Truffle Shuffle which I'm sure the
37:39 neighbors here and over there have no
37:41 desire to see me do I got my Goonies
37:43 shirt on and of course
37:46 I got
37:47 baby
37:49 I could not be the first one who's going
37:51 to consume a baby roof here at this
37:53 house I'm not going to do the Truffle
37:55 Shuffle no one wants to see that
37:58 but I figure some people might want to
37:59 see me consume a baby roof
38:10 I'm gonna eat a baby root
38:10 this is a two pack but someone was here
38:12 you could share it with me
38:28 it's a win in Rome moment and as I chew
38:28 on this finishing it up
38:30 I really hope that over time and I kind
38:32 of feel like the new owner
38:34 is going to
38:36 make this more
38:38 looking like the movie maybe put the
38:40 Contraptions out front the stump
38:42 the chunk
38:44 stood on there yes Baby Ruth is really
38:56 I believe this has been changed too
38:56 the front porch been repainted
38:58 but the structure of the house looks the
39:00 same
39:00 pretty dang awesome
39:05 I was kind of thinking that while I was
39:05 up here other people would walk up here
39:07 too but I've been here for about 15
39:08 minutes no one else has walked up the
39:10 hill
39:11 so maybe not as many people show up here
39:13 as I thought they would
39:15 I don't know
39:17 I haven't had a baby ruth in a long time
39:22 I should probably match up a couple
39:22 photos real quick or maybe not I think
39:24 everyone kind of knows what the house
39:26 yeah I'm gonna leave it at that I don't
39:28 need to go into detail
39:30 maybe one day I could come back and get
39:32 in the house
39:33 not sure if it's an actual residence if
39:35 it's going to turn into like a rental
39:37 it's going to turn it into a museum
39:38 what's allowed what's not allowed time
39:40 will tell
39:41 the good news is new owner has taken
39:44 this over
39:45 and is very
39:48 much into honoring the legacy of the
39:50 film and for that
39:53 I give it a big thumbs up
39:58 hmm
40:07 it's a good candy bar
40:14 it's really good
40:19 now if I could just
40:21 find some rocky road
40:33 and back down the hill kind of zoomed in
40:33 on it
40:38 Goonies are welcome again
40:41 how's it going to do it for today I'll
40:43 see you in the next video
40:44 the Vlog
40:46 is over
