0:11 started up in oregon but has branched
0:13 out to well
0:14 over 100 locations and there's one just
0:18 down the road in anaheim
0:20 that is inside a historical and very
0:23 unique structure i'm inviting you to
0:26 join me
0:27 shall you do have to get moving however
0:30 pack this stuff up
0:31 and get going they're only open
0:34 a portion of the day you're right big
0:37 the foot that would be classified as a
0:40 classic truck alert arrive to the cross
0:43 streets of
0:44 la plaza street and lincoln ave which is
0:48 what you're seeing running parallel
0:50 to the front of this former home
0:54 which is now the original pancake house
1:04 that is a thing of beauty right there
1:04 look at that old signage
1:06 an antique from what i was reading
1:09 information on this place
1:11 they had some trouble giving it a
1:13 historical documentation because
1:16 of the expansion that happened a very
1:18 long time ago
1:20 it has gone through quite a few
1:21 renovations
1:23 since its original incarnation
1:26 when it was created and it's been a
1:28 number of different
1:30 businesses and establishments but this
1:33 is the most popular and the one that has
1:35 been
1:36 inside this facade for the longest
1:39 period of time after
1:42 it was a homestead and as i stated a
1:46 little while ago
1:47 their hours are only until 2 pm
1:51 you can get up bright and early at 6 00
1:52 am and arrive
1:55 but if you're late to the game you will
1:58 not get any delicious
2:00 delectable breakfast
2:04 breakfast with the tea
2:14 and pancakes they are open
2:14 established back in 1958
2:24 oh yes i am certainly ready
2:24 for a meal
2:33 got the ceiling fans
2:41 taking a gander at the menu here has the
2:41 logo
2:42 with the chef flipping one of those
2:45 beautiful items up in the air there oh
2:46 look the pancake itself
2:48 is the o the lettering in the word
2:52 original open this up
2:56 i'm gonna have i gotta go with the the
2:59 traditional
3:00 go to meal which would be just
3:02 buttermilk pancakes you can get
3:04 different toppings
3:05 and whatnot on top and oh wow they have
3:07 cottage cheese
3:10 versions for 9.20 chocolate chips
3:13 hawaiian blueberry
3:17 we also have waffles omelets
3:21 egg specials but i'm gonna go here
3:24 with the top item in the row buttermilk
3:27 pancakes served with
3:29 whipped butter for eight dollars and ten
3:31 cents 660 calories
3:34 for a chunk of six six of them
3:38 yeah i'm gonna get six you can go with
3:39 half of that amount
3:41 for a dollar left after signing my
3:43 receipt i have to place my pin
3:45 into the into that particular slot you
3:48 got
3:48 you have sanitized over here and on
3:52 i got the dirty ones right there
3:54 available for purchase they have these
3:56 these assortment of mugs here with the
3:59 right on them at the counter i asked if
4:01 this was the
4:02 founder the original owners they said
4:04 yes
4:05 there's some photographs of him way back
4:08 in the good old days
4:10 the history of this building goes back
4:11 to the late 1800s when a single family
4:14 house was constructed on what was then
4:16 a four acre parcel for more than a
4:19 generation the house was occupied and
4:20 enjoyed
4:21 by an early anaheim family in 1958
4:26 raymond and anita burkland
4:29 fired the property after major
4:31 renovation and remodeling remodeling
4:33 they opened the original pancake house
4:47 everything all tidied up inside this
4:47 container
4:49 right here oh yeah
5:25 so vintage classic
5:25 as i back up i'm hoping i don't trip
5:27 over anything
5:28 keeping the framing but i'm kind of
5:31 looking back
5:32 as i had a tip toe
5:35 i don't want to fall off the curb
5:50 every one of that boss was having a fun
5:50 moment
5:52 watching me
6:03 all right moving on i'm gonna go eat
6:03 this you're correct again big the foot
6:06 it's not too far down here to this park
6:08 about a half a mile
6:10 arrived at citrus park
6:18 there's this painting of the citrus
6:18 fruit association
6:19 here in anaheim sun kissed you can see
6:22 it inscribed on that
6:24 that big orange down the bottom corner
6:30 which is a nice tie-in because i also
6:31 got some orange juice
6:33 to drink quite an array of picnic tables
6:36 however none of them are really in the
6:39 shade
6:40 at the time being this one kind of hints
6:43 at the shade right there look i got like
6:47 a tiny teeny amount of shade if i was to
6:51 like
6:52 procure myself on the coin yeah i'm
6:54 gonna have to do that that's
6:55 that's really about the only option and
6:58 this
6:59 is what we're
7:02 dealing with they gave me quite an
7:04 assortment of
7:05 napkins which i'm going to need there is
7:07 the straw
7:08 and they were nice enough because the
7:11 size
7:12 beverage containers that they have are
7:16 large this is considered a large and
7:18 they know that i'm gonna
7:19 i'm gonna need quite a quite a bit to
7:21 wash down
7:23 my lunch while i'm eating breakfast food
7:25 for lunch
7:26 that they didn't charge me any extra
7:29 for oh you know what i am completely
7:31 mistaken
7:32 okay i i stand corrected they did not
7:35 give me
7:36 a second dairy i ordered i ordered fruit
7:40 okay there's my orange juice okay i
7:42 forgot i ordered i ordered
7:44 some fruit down in there a side of fruit
7:46 oh and
7:47 i guess they are assuming that two
7:50 people are gonna be i guess i did order
7:51 a stack of six i got two sets of cutlery
7:55 i got my log cabin
7:58 syrup one and two
8:02 packages my drink container which now no
8:05 longer
8:06 has any of the drinks in there i got my
8:08 butter got one package
8:10 two packages of butter and down in here
8:15 between two paper plates
8:19 are whoa
8:22 don't look at it don't go don't go
8:26 don't go held together by
8:29 a a rubber band a thin rubber band
8:46 and to stop the wind from blowing it in
8:46 all facets
8:48 i'm going to place the other the second
8:49 plate down oh that's pretty that's
8:51 pretty good idea they put
8:52 because they thought too oh we got some
8:54 yard work going by
8:56 my apologies for the yard work but it's
8:58 gonna get noisy for a moment
9:00 and then i think he's gonna i think they
9:02 might be finishing up so we might get
9:03 lucky
9:05 look at this the array that they
9:07 decorate them in
9:09 it kind of like protrude them around in
9:11 a circular fashion almost
9:13 almost hypnotizing
9:18 leaf blower alert there's a leaf blower

9:22 looks as if they're almost done though

9:25 the gardening is almost finished so
9:27 we're gonna get pretty lucky
9:29 i believe this is the fruit here let me

9:41 that's what i'm talking about i need
9:42 in my belly we got some pineapple we got
9:44 some cantaloupe we got some maybe some
9:46 kiwi
9:47 some orange and speaking of
9:51 orange here it is all all
9:54 liquefied in my in my cup there
9:58 you have to kind of just roll what is
9:59 given to you as far as
10:01 sometimes natural ambience sometimes
10:04 man-made ambiance that
10:07 just got to look at everything some
10:10 things need to happen
10:11 workers need to be out doing their thing
10:14 i need to be out
10:16 continuing the series what i have done
10:19 is i've taken half of them three of them
10:22 place them over there
10:24 on that side just in case i can't
10:27 i'm putting the butter the butter is a
10:29 little a little runny
10:32 and the butter's a little very very soft
10:36 i'm just gonna use one of the packets on

10:39 up cranking up the leaf blower again
10:41 place them all
10:43 like this and then pour it
10:51 look at that let's just let's just let's
10:51 just drench it
10:56 all right it seems as if they're kind of
10:56 going off to another section you're
10:58 still going to hear it way off in the
10:59 distance
11:00 okay now they're making it loud they're
11:01 cranking it up
11:03 but they are walking the opposite way so
11:06 i'm just going to try to get this get
11:08 this in my belly
11:10 it's been a while so i had pancakes oh
11:13 look at that syrup just
11:15 oh just like flowing in the breeze
11:18 staying on staying on the plate
11:34 oh yeah oh i hear a train
11:34 i hear the train mechanism
11:38 coming down blocking the road i can't
11:39 see it from here i can kind of see it
11:41 from here
11:41 way over there i think maybe a train
11:44 runs parallel to this
11:45 this park
12:01 computer train going by quick you can't
12:01 see it
12:02 it's obscured by the
12:05 the orange mural that was over there
12:08 here in anaheim it's on the
12:10 murals on the wall that blocks the train
12:12 track that thing went by quick
12:14 i have a fly in my forearm
12:24 i think i might be able to i might be
12:27 able to do all six of these
12:28 maybe let me finish the first three of
12:30 them i don't know maybe not
12:32 the service pretty the serve's pretty
12:33 thick
12:36 okay now there's a helicopter
12:42 i think it's a helicopter i might be
12:42 able to get yeah i might be able to see
12:46 oh yeah right there
12:55 going overhead it is just a plethora of
12:55 noises out here
12:58 helicopter yard workers trains
13:07 me chomping
13:16 well i'm still a large faith having a
13:16 large phase of my life but i mean i went
13:18 through a phase
13:20 where i didn't really enjoy pancakes
13:24 oh my here's him i got a haircut at some
13:26 point too
13:28 let me get syrup all of my
13:32 my hair but i went through a phase where
13:34 i didn't really enjoy pancakes they're
13:35 almost a little too
13:36 desserty for me i love breakfast food
13:39 even though i don't normally eat
13:40 breakfast i do love breakfast food for
13:42 lunch and especially dinner something
13:44 about
13:45 eggs bacon sausage
13:48 sourdough toast in the evening hours
13:50 late night hours
13:52 i am into
14:00 they're coming at me from the sides okay
14:00 he's loading up
14:01 the lawn mower this might end this might
14:04 be ending soon
14:05 the noise might be ending soon leaf
14:08 blower gentleman
14:09 is way over there like it probably
14:11 sounds like he's right here in my face
14:13 he's not he's way over there
14:20 but there was a point where i really
14:20 didn't enjoy pancakes that are too sweet
14:22 even i'm eating this now it feels like
14:23 i'm eating dessert
14:25 and those are four mentioned things you
14:28 know regular like eggs omelets
14:30 stuff like that breakfast food any time
14:32 of the day
14:33 i would never get pancakes and then
14:37 you know a few years went by i had them
14:39 when i was younger but in my adult life
14:40 i would just never get them and then one
14:42 day i said
14:42 heck it give me some pancakes and once i
14:46 eat them i usually just want to crave
14:47 them i know a lot of you are really
14:49 crave pancakes
14:51 i normally don't but once i get a taste
14:57 it's just go time
15:11 i almost forget how dang good they are
15:11 until i take that first
15:12 nibble and then it's on i think this guy
15:14 might be just toying with me now he's
15:16 just idling within
15:18 within earshot to hear it rumbling you
15:20 can hear his
15:22 his the mechanism rumbling i'm just
15:24 going to eat the rest of this and take
15:25 the other three home
15:26 they are very thick and the added butter
15:31 and the syrup really kind of like
15:35 really is i'll say filling but it's very
15:37 sweet
15:39 get too much of that in you at once
16:09 not complete silence but oh it got quiet
16:09 i have eaten at this establishment once
16:11 before
16:13 over in orange
16:19 so there are more than one in this
16:19 general vicinity
16:21 there's a few in southern california
16:30 but most likely the most unique and
16:30 interesting one
16:31 is the house is that home
16:36 that relic antique
16:44 sign okay last last flap jack
16:44 that's the same as a pancake
17:01 hmm the syrup i am utilizing
17:01 is a family tradition from 1887.
17:16 this is this this package wasn't made in
17:16 1887 it's just a
17:18 family tradition
17:30 got to find that rubber band and seal
17:30 this thing back up
17:32 i can maybe you know i could probably
17:34 probably do another one but i'm not
17:36 going to i'm just going to complete the
17:38 fruit
17:43 and put the top back on this one i feel
17:44 pretty comfortable i'm going to keep
17:44 myself in the
17:46 comfort zone one thing i've always kind
17:48 of battled with my whole life
17:50 even when i was even when i was a youth
17:53 but growing up
17:54 is if there is food in front of me it's
17:57 tough for me to stop eating
17:59 i have to work on that
18:07 and they say if you eat slow then it has
18:07 time to
18:08 to digest and fill up your stomach
18:18 so if there was you know a plate of this
18:19 and it was half full i would eat that
18:22 and then
18:22 you know whoever i'm whoever i'm sitting
18:25 with
18:26 talk to them time goes on i start i feel
18:28 full
18:30 but if the plate's the size and it is a
18:32 hundred percent of the plate is filled
18:33 up
18:34 twice as much as what i was previously
18:37 mentioning
18:38 i would just keep shoveling it in and i
18:41 still do that i'm not i'm not saying
18:42 that i have
18:43 i have bested that that habit
18:53 but i've been working on it because as
18:53 you get older
18:57 you cannot handle just eating
19:04 constant amounts of non-healthy items
19:04 even healthy items
19:05 you can't eat a lot of them i cannot eat
19:08 a lot
19:09 of food shovel it in like i used to
19:17 the frame of my body my weight
19:17 is is much larger than it was when i was
19:19 you know
19:21 15 years ago but it felt like i ate
19:25 five times as much then also a lot more
19:28 hyper though
19:29 that might have something to do with it
19:43 this fruit was very very needed
19:43 ooh is this a pear
19:49 okay there's two pieces here with the
19:49 top and one on top there
19:52 now let me try this
20:03 i don't know what that was oh and
20:03 there's like
20:04 a good amount of juice
20:10 i wonder what the juice tastes like with
20:10 all these different flavors
20:17 pretty unrecognizable it just tastes
20:17 like a mishmash of juice this is oj
20:21 i love orange juice orange juice is my
20:24 go-to juice
20:26 i love apple juice a lot too went
20:29 through a
20:30 went through a portion where i drink
20:32 apple juice all the time so drink a lot
20:34 of apple juice
20:35 and now i've replaced it with with
20:36 orange juice a lot more
20:38 i just love having vitamin c flowing
20:40 through the bones
20:41 even though it doesn't really get in
20:42 your bones it gets in like your
20:44 bloodstream as far as i know or is maybe
20:46 i'm not i'm not a doctor
20:48 but i like having that vitamin c
20:52 and i'm now the sun starting to kind of
21:03 hear oh another helicopter
